Job Description

Overview:

Value Added Services (VAS) is one of three growth strategies for Visa globally, aimed at diversifying Visa’s revenue with products and solutions that differentiate its network and deliver valuable solutions across other networks.

All associated capabilities and services will report into one of the functions in VAS, such as Acceptance Solutions, Issuing Solutions or Risk. These functions together are accountable for both sales and technical enablement of VAS products towards all types of clients such as banks, financial institutions, platformers, merchants, wallet providers, etc. The team coordinates across various business functions in Japan such as Client Relationship Management and Client Services, as well as our global offices, to support the business growth of our clients.

What a Product Manager does at Visa: Reporting directly to a Director in Value-Added Services Japan, with a dotted reporting line to the regional Acceptance Solutions team in Singapore, this role combines product management with technical client consulting. The role is responsible for shaping, maintaining, and improving Visa Acceptance Solutions products and technology in Japan, with hands-on ownership of assigned products and initiatives. Unlike a sales engineering role, this position is less focused on selling solutions and more focused on translating market and client needs into product direction, requirements, enhancements and delivery priorities.

A key part of this role is assessing client enhancement and product intake requests, determining how they align with client needs and Visa capabilities, define requirements, facilitate feature or product development via our global teams, manage dependencies and expectations, and support the go-to-market of new Visa products and capabilities.

The role includes direct client engagement as a technical consultant and trusted product specialist. You will help clients understand how Visa technology can address their business needs, advise on potential adaptations or enhancements, and bring market feedback into product planning. You will also help internal teams understand Visa products from a technology perspective. Success requires strong product judgment, comfort with API-based SaaS solutions, clear bilingual communication, and the ability to navigate complex global organizations while remaining accountable for outcomes in Japan.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Own assigned Acceptance Solutions products and initiatives in Japan, from market needs and product intake through launch and ongoing improvement.
  • Assess and prioritize enhancement, customization, and product intake requests based on client value, strategic fit, feasibility, risk, and roadmap impact.
  • Translate client and market needs into clear product requirements, use cases, success criteria, and recommendations for local, regional, and global teams.
  • Serve as a technical product specialist and trusted consultant for clients and internal stakeholders, including sales, implementation, and client services.
  • Facilitate product and feature development by coordinating decisions, dependencies, expectations, and risks across business and technology stakeholders.
  • Support go-to-market planning and product readiness for new products and capabilities, including internal enablement, client materials, and launch coordination.
  • Test the API of new Visa products and product features developed by our global teams before instructing about them to the client.

Why this is important to Visa: As a business whose success and growth is largely driven by how well our solutions deliver results for our clients, the Product Manager is needed to ensure Visa technology is deployed to solve client problems in the right way and maximize value for both our clients and Visa together.

Visa requires at least 3 days in office, expectations of these days will be confirmed by your Hiring Manager.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
