Are you a detail-oriented accounting professional with the experience and ability to independently manage financial administration, as well as prepare annual financial statements? About the role As a Senior Associate I Accounting, from our beautiful office in Stellenbosch (South Africa), you will support the accounting practice by processing financial administrations and performing compilations of the annual financial statements for various Dutch entities. You will work closely with colleagues in South Africa and the Netherlands within a structured planning, review, and quality control environment.

Key responsibilities This role focuses on three core areas:

  • Accounting administration Processing and maintaining clients’ financial records Preparing and reviewing accounting entries and general ledger transactions Performing of balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations Ensuring accurate, complete, and up-to-date financial administration
  • Support in the compilation of the annual financial statement based on Dutch GAAPAssisting with preparatory work for the annual financial statements Preparing working papers, schedules, and supporting specifications Performing annual financial statement preparation procedures Delivering well-structured, review-ready files for senior colleagues
  • Collaboration and communicationCommunicating professionally with colleagues and, where required, clients Requesting information in a timely manner Identifying and escalating discrepancies, inconsistencies, or uncertainties Working in accordance with agreed timelines, checklists, and quality standards

Who are we really looking for? We are not looking for a consultant or manager. We are looking for a dependable accounting professional who can independently prepare financial administrations and compilations for the annual financial statements.

You take ownership of your work, ensure that compilation and administrative files are complete, logically structured, and ready for review enabling managers to perform efficient and effective reviews with minimal follow up and corrections required.

What you bring:

  • B.Com Accounting, B.Accounting or other relevant financial accounting degree
  • Registration with SAIPA (preferred), SAICA or Acca with relevant compilation experience
  • Completed articles with a recognised professional body
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in compilation at a top-10 accounting firm
  • Experience working with Caseware
  • Experience preparing financial statements and financial reporting
  • Strong knowledge of general ledger accounting, reconciliations, and year-end procedures

Skills and competencies:

  • Accurate, structured, and reliable work ethic
  • Ability to work independently within established guidelines
  • Strong Excel and accounting software skills
  • Effective communication skills within a remote working environment
  • Fluent in English and Afrikaans
