Position Overview

Vivant is looking for a hands-on Field Service Technician to support customers at locations throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area. This role is suited to a technician with practical experience installing, servicing, and troubleshooting networking equipment and connected technology directly at customer sites.

You will work with routers, switches, wireless access points, PoE devices, IP cameras, and other network-connected equipment. You will inspect equipment and physical connections, identify and troubleshoot hardware or connectivity issues, replace faulty components when needed, and work with Vivant's remote support team when an issue requires configuration changes or additional technical assistance.

This is a networking-focused field service position. Cabling and low-voltage work are part of the role when needed, but the primary focus is on installing, servicing, and troubleshooting networking equipment and connectivity issues, not cable installation alone.

Requirements

  • Professional experience in field service, on-site technical support, or installation and troubleshooting of networking or connected equipment at customer locations.
  • Hands-on experience installing, servicing, inspecting, and troubleshooting routers, network switches, wireless access points, or similar equipment.
  • Practical understanding of networking and connectivity fundamentals, including Ethernet, IP addressing, DHCP, DNS, VLANs, and PoE, sufficient to recognize common issues and communicate findings.
  • Ability to troubleshoot equipment and physical connectivity issues methodically and identify when a problem requires escalation to remote support or the ISP.
  • Ability to work independently at customer sites, follow technical instructions, prioritize assignments, and take ownership of issues through resolution or appropriate escalation.
  • Strong customer service, communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to travel to customer sites throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting restaurants, retail locations, hospitality businesses, or other commercial or multi-location environments.
  • Experience with IP cameras, point-of-sale (POS) systems, VoIP phones, or other network-connected business equipment.
  • Familiarity with networking equipment and platforms such as Cisco, Ubiquiti, or Meraki.
  • Additional experience with low-voltage systems, structured cabling, cable termination, and cable testing.
  • Industry certifications such as CompTIA Network+ or Cisco CCNA.

What Success Looks Like

  • You can arrive at a customer site, assess a networking or connectivity problem, and work through a logical hands-on troubleshooting process.
  • You are comfortable installing, connecting, inspecting, and replacing network equipment, without needing to perform network device configuration.
  • You can identify what you can resolve on-site and clearly communicate when an issue requires configuration changes, remote support, or ISP involvement.
  • You take ownership of customer issues and verify that equipment and services are working before closing out the visit.

Benefits

Healthcare, recognition and rewards, company events, and a real path to promotion.

Pay and Bonus

  • $25–$40/hr, based on experience.
  • $1,500 bonus after 90 days for:
  • Hitting your KPIs
  • No unapproved absences
  • Completing installs on schedule, per the SOW and our standards

Schedule

  • Monday-Friday, typically 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
  • Some projects run late or need weekend work
  • Mostly DFW, with about 25% travel outside the market

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
