The posting

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Market Research Analyst – International Development & AI based in United States.

We are seeking an experienced research professional to identify and evaluate strategic market opportunities at the intersection of international development, artificial intelligence, and data services. In this role, you will conduct in-depth research into institutional demand, funding environments, procurement trends, and emerging technology applications across global development markets. You will assess opportunities involving multilateral development banks, government agencies, international organizations, and development-sector stakeholders. Through quantitative and qualitative analysis, you will translate complex market intelligence into actionable business recommendations. Working closely with leadership and cross-functional teams, you will help shape market positioning, service development, and expansion strategies. This is an opportunity to contribute to the responsible growth of AI-powered solutions while supporting strategic decisions in a dynamic, international, and technology-driven environment.

Accountabilities

  • Lead comprehensive market research initiatives to assess institutional priorities, AI adoption trends, and demand for AI training data, multilingual datasets, human evaluation, and related services within the international development sector.
  • Analyze funding mechanisms, procurement practices, technology investments, and institutional purchasing requirements across multilateral development banks, government agencies, international organizations, and development consulting firms.
  • Evaluate market opportunities across geographic regions and development sectors, including education, employment, social protection, agriculture, and public services.
  • Identify potential institutional customers, assess market size, competitive landscapes, barriers to entry, and commercial feasibility, and prioritize opportunities based on strategic relevance.
  • Conduct competitive intelligence and monitor emerging policies, funding programs, institutional initiatives, and technology trends that may influence market demand.
  • Assess how existing AI, multilingual data, and evaluation capabilities can address emerging institutional needs, including socioeconomic data analysis, document processing, and domain-specific AI applications.
  • Collaborate with technical, operational, and business development teams to evaluate service feasibility, identify potential adaptations, and support pilot programs, partnerships, and new service development.
  • Develop market assessments, feasibility studies, institutional analyses, executive presentations, and evidence-based strategic recommendations for senior leadership.
  • Establish research methodologies, priorities, and reporting processes to maintain reliable and ongoing market intelligence.
  • Independently manage research projects from initial scoping and data collection through analysis, reporting, and presentation, ensuring accuracy, quality, and timely delivery.
  • Translate complex economic, institutional, and market information into clear business insights that support strategic planning, market entry, and business expansion decisions.
  • Communicate research assumptions, limitations, risks, and recommendations effectively while managing multiple priorities and collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Economics, Applied Economics, International Development, Public Policy, or a closely related quantitative social science discipline, with academic training in statistics and research methodologies.
  • At least 6 years of relevant professional experience, ideally between 6 and 10 years, in applied economic research, institutional research, policy analysis, market research, or strategic market intelligence.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research and evaluating complex economic, socioeconomic, institutional, and market information.
  • Proven ability to transform research findings into structured reports, actionable recommendations, and strategic business insights.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to independently manage research initiatives and assess information from multiple sources.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication skills, including the ability to present complex findings and strategic recommendations to senior leadership.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining high-quality deliverables.
  • Proficiency in research methodologies, data analysis, market assessment techniques, and professional reporting and presentation tools.
  • Ability to consistently work Central Time (CT) business hours, regardless of geographic location, to support business operations and team collaboration.
  • A Master's degree in Economics, Public Policy, International Development, Development Economics, or a related analytical discipline is preferred.
  • Previous experience working with multilateral development banks, international development organizations, government agencies, or similar institutional stakeholders is highly desirable.
  • Experience conducting research and market assessments across multiple countries, particularly in developing and emerging markets, is an advantage.
  • Familiarity with development-sector funding mechanisms, donor-funded programs, institutional procurement processes, and government investment priorities is preferred.
  • Knowledge of artificial intelligence, machine learning, digital development, or technology-enabled solutions in international development is an asset.
  • Experience supporting market-entry strategies, commercial feasibility assessments, business expansion initiatives, or strategic partnerships is beneficial.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate effectively with executive-level decision-makers are highly valued.
  • Competitive Salary: Annual base salary ranging from $70,000 to $95,000 USD for US-based employees, depending on qualifications, relevant experience, skills, and applicable geographic considerations.
  • Medical Insurance: Employer-sponsored medical coverage, subject to applicable eligibility requirements and waiting periods.
  • Dental Insurance: Dental coverage available to eligible employees.
  • Vision Insurance: Vision coverage available to eligible employees.
  • Retirement Savings: Access to a company-sponsored 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching contributions, subject to plan eligibility, contribution, and vesting provisions.
  • Short-Term Disability: Coverage available to eligible employees in accordance with applicable plan provisions.
  • Paid Time Off: Paid leave, sick leave, and applicable holiday benefits in accordance with company policies and relevant state and local laws.
  • Remote Work: Fully remote working arrangement for candidates based in the United States.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
