About the role:

Imagine working with autonomy, and practicing to full scope, while building meaningful connections with your clients. As a VON nurse, you'll deliver holistic person-centred care to children, youth, adults, seniors, and support their families. You'll have the opportunity to work in clients' homes, in our clinics, virtually, and engage in community outreach. Sakura House Residential Hospice provides specialized care and services with a patient-centered approach. Patients and families are intimately involved in creating their own plan of care which best addresses their unique needs. Our specialized hospice team works together, with other community partners and service providers to provide full support and quality hospice palliative care. Working within an interdisciplinary care team with the goal to provide comfort care and the management of pain and other symptoms.

What you'll do:

  • Client assessments
  • Provide primary care in collaboration with other healthcare professionals
  • Medication administration
  • Wound care
  • Chronic Disease Management, e.g. diabetes care and education
  • Specimen collection
  • Rehabilitative programs
  • Palliative Care
  • And many other critical nursing skills

What we're looking for:

  • Must be licensed as a Registered Practical Nurse in the province of practice
  • Community health experience is an asset
  • Must enjoy driving, have a valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle
  • A satisfactory Criminal Records Check is required; a Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may also be necessary
  • Must be able to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Working conditions and physical demands: This role requires a detail-oriented approach in a dynamic environment, with physical activity including lifting, carrying (using proper techniques), bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements that emphasize good body mechanics.
