Role Summary

The Sr. Manager, Material Program Management is responsible and accountable for the material plan, schedule, and execution across Voyager's Strategic Systems product portfolio. This leader builds, develops, and directs a team of Material Program Managers (MPMs) who lead all phases of material and subcontract program execution, from proposal through development and production. The Sr. Manager sets the standard for how Voyager Supply Chain runs material programs: consistent planning and reporting, disciplined financial control, proactive risk management, and full compliance with customer and Government contract requirements.

This role pairs strategic thinking with hands-on execution. The Sr. Manager is the senior supply chain voice on assigned programs, partnering with Program Management, Engineering, Quality, Contracts, Finance, and Strategic Sourcing, and representing Supply Chain in program reviews, leadership briefings, and customer meetings. A successful leader in this role builds trust quickly, makes sound decisions with incomplete information, and holds themselves and their team accountable for results.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the team

  • Lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team of Material Program Managers; set clear goals, hold the team accountable for results, and build bench strength and succession.
  • Assign MPM coverage across programs, balance workload, and step in on critical issues, escalations, and customer-facing situations.
  • Establish and enforce consistent material program management practices, templates, cadence, and metrics across all programs.
  • Recruit, onboard, and retain top talent; foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Own material program execution

  • Own material strategy, plans, and performance for assigned programs, including that portion of the Integrated Master Schedules (IMS) with the responsible Program Managers.
  • Oversee execution with key subcontractors through all program phases, including SRR/PDR/CDR milestones, supplier status reporting, and program management related SDRLs.
  • Drive supply and demand planning with Operations, Engineering, and Planning to identify gaps early; escalate critical issues immediately and own the recovery.
  • Lead risk and opportunity management for material content, including mitigation plans, executive escalation, and clear communication of impacts to cost, schedule, and delivery.
  • Partner with Engineering on development of technical requirements (SOW, Specifications), design release, test and qualification plans for related materials and subcontractors.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain organization for execution of the Material strategy, including Subcontract administrators, Buyers and Strategic Sourcing.

Financial accountability

  • Own program-level material financials, including material sales forecasts, estimates at completion (EACs), and associated Risks and Opportunities.
  • Review and advise Program forecasts and EAC changes; ensure variances are understood, explained, and acted upon.

Customers, leadership, and growth

  • Serve as a senior customer contact for material and subcontract program information; present in Program Management Reviews, leadership briefings, and customer reviews.
  • Lead material content for proposals and new business pursuits, including basis of estimates (BOEs), and subcontract plans.
  • Provide executive-level reporting on material program health, supplier performance, and key metrics.

Compliance and process

  • Ensure prime contract flow-downs (FAR/DFARS and customer-specific terms) are identified, flowed to Supply Chain, and are adhered to.
  • Maintain compliance with U.S. Government regulations, including ITAR/EAR export requirements, in all material and subcontract program activities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business management, finance, supply chain or another related category
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of program management and/or supply chain management experience in aerospace and defense programs, including at least 3 (three) years leading teams with direct reports
  • Demonstrated ability to manage Integrated Master Schedules (IMS), and program financials including EACs, forecasting, and accruals
  • Direct experience with Government procurement regulations and contract flow-downs, including FAR/DFARS, ITAR/EAR, and TINA
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government issued Secret clearance; U.S. citizenship is required
  • Proficient user of Microsoft Office, including Word, Project, Excel, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree or MBA
  • Management of rocket propulsion or missile defense system programs
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification; Lean and/or Six Sigma training or certification
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems and analytics or planning tools
  • Experience building or scaling a program management function in a growing organization

Travel, Physical, and/or Government Mandated Requirements

  • Travel up to 25%

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
