Job Description

Company Overview

Vertex is a global biotechnology company that invests in scientific innovation to create transformative medicines for people with serious diseases. Collaboration is central to how Vertexians work across offices and teams worldwide. The Digital Technology and Engineering organization delivers secure, reliable, and intuitive technology experiences that enable employees to connect, collaborate, and advance Vertex’s mission.

Role Summary

The Sr. AV Conference and Events Technologies Platforms Administrator is a client-facing technical leader responsible for delivering an exceptional global audio/visual, videoconferencing, live event, webcast, and collaboration experience for Vertexians working in hybrid and in-office environments.

This role serves as the primary subject matter expert for Vertex’s enterprise collaboration, conference room, event, webcast, and Unified Communications ecosystem. The individual will be responsible for the health, configuration, security, lifecycle management, integrations, analytics, and optimization of meeting room systems, live and hybrid event technologies, webcast platforms, scheduling displays, digital signage, and related collaboration tools.

Candidates with experience administering enterprise videoconferencing, webcast, Unified Communications, and collaboration platforms—including Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or comparable solutions—are encouraged to apply. This role will support and help evolve Vertex’s collaboration technology ecosystem to meet the needs of a modern, technology-enabled workforce.

The successful candidate will help advance a technology-enabled workforce through modern digital workplace capabilities, including AI-enabled meeting and event experiences, intelligent collaboration features, workflow automation, platform analytics, and data-driven service improvements. This role will help evaluate, enable, and manage collaboration capabilities such as meeting summaries, transcription, recording, intelligent search, and language-based features, with appropriate attention to security, privacy, governance, reliability, accessibility, and user adoption.

Key Responsibilities

  • Administer and support Vertex’s enterprise collaboration, videoconferencing, Unified Communications, webcast, and event technology platforms. Manage platform configuration, licensing, user access, roles, security settings, recording controls, feature releases, and governance to provide a consistent global experience.
  • Own the lifecycle and operational health of Vertex’s global conference room and event technology ecosystem, including collaboration room systems, scheduling displays, integrated AV hardware, room controllers, and event-production tools. Lead provisioning, deployment, configuration, maintenance, refresh planning, firmware updates, and global standards.
  • Provide high-touch technical leadership for executive meetings, town halls, webcasts, leadership communications, and other high-profile live, hybrid, and virtual events. Coordinate technical readiness reviews, speaker preparation, rehearsals, live-event support, real-time issue resolution, and post-event analysis.
  • Manage meeting and event content capabilities, including recording, transcription, captioning, translation, speaker identification, AI-generated summaries, action-item extraction, and searchable on-demand content. Maintain appropriate controls for recording ownership, access, storage, retention, archival, distribution, and deletion.
  • Serve as the Tier 3 escalation point for complex collaboration, AV, conference room, and webcast incidents. Proactively monitor platform health, room status, call quality, streaming quality, network performance, and hardware reliability; diagnose and resolve audio, video, connectivity, and platform issues with urgency.
  • Manage integrations, identity, and automation capabilities across collaboration and business platforms, including Microsoft 365/O365, Google Workspace, Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, Azure AD, Okta, and other approved services. Support SSO, automated provisioning, APIs, webhooks, scripting, and workflow automation.
  • Evaluate, enable, and govern AI-enabled collaboration and event capabilities, including LLM-supported summaries, intelligent meeting search, transcription, knowledge discovery, and operational automation. Partner with cybersecurity, privacy, legal, records-management, and business stakeholders to ensure responsible, secure, and compliant use.
  • Develop scalable support and enablement resources for Vertexians, presenters, event stakeholders, and support teams. Create and maintain global standards, technical documentation, room and event runbooks, knowledge articles, training materials, and user guidance; use analytics, adoption data, and stakeholder feedback to continuously improve the collaboration and event experience.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field; equivalent relevant work experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of experience supporting enterprise AV, videoconferencing, Unified Communications, collaboration technology, webcast, live event, or related IT environments.
  • Experience administering enterprise collaboration platforms, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Webex, or comparable solutions, including user access, licensing, configuration, security, and feature management.
  • Experience supporting conference room collaboration systems, integrated AV technologies, scheduling displays, and related hardware in a distributed enterprise environment.
  • Experience providing technical support for live, hybrid, and virtual events, including webcasts, webinars, town halls, executive meetings, or other high-visibility events.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across audio, video, conferencing, streaming, hardware, connectivity, and network performance issues.
  • Knowledge of enterprise network and Unified Communications concepts, including UCaaS, VoIP, SIP/H.323, Quality of Service, firewalls, bandwidth management, and video troubleshooting.
  • Experience with identity and access management, including SSO, SAML, Azure AD, Okta, Active Directory, or comparable solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create technical documentation, provide end-user training, and communicate effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities with urgency, and provide on-site support at the Boston Seaport office on a hybrid schedule.

Technical Skills and Preferred Experience

  • Experience managing the full lifecycle of collaboration and AV technologies, including deployment, provisioning, configuration, maintenance, firmware and software updates, monitoring, and refresh planning.
  • Knowledge of meeting and event content management, including recordings, transcription, captioning, translation, speaker identification, content access, storage, retention, archival, and deletion.
  • Experience with AI-enabled collaboration capabilities, such as meeting summaries, action-item extraction, intelligent search, transcription, LLM-enabled features, and workflow automation.
  • Familiarity with responsible AI, data privacy, security, content retention, governance, human review, user enablement, and adoption practices for AI-generated meeting and event content.
  • Experience supporting enterprise AV hardware ecosystems and commercial AV technologies, such as Logitech, Neat, Poly, DTEN, Shure, Q-SYS, digital signal processors, cameras, microphones, and room-control systems.
  • Experience with monitoring and analytics tools for platform health, call and streaming quality, room utilization, capacity planning, event performance, user adoption, and service improvement.
  • Experience integrating collaboration platforms with enterprise productivity, identity, and service-management tools, including Microsoft 365/O365, Google Workspace, Slack, Salesforce, ServiceNow, APIs, webhooks, scripting, and automation.
  • Experience creating technical standards, deployment playbooks, event runbooks, knowledge articles, training materials, and scalable support processes.
  • Preferred: Experience supporting collaboration platform migrations, technology evaluations, vendor management, and global AV or event technology deployments.
  • Preferred: Relevant certifications in collaboration platforms, AV technology, or networking, such as Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Cisco/Webex, CCNA, or CompTIA Network+.
  • Preferred: Experience mentoring support personnel, coordinating technical escalations, or leading cross-functional operational initiatives.

Key Attributes

  • Self-starter with strong ownership, drive, and the ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
  • Highly customer-focused, professional, and responsive, with a commitment to delivering exceptional user and event experiences.
  • Collaborative relationship builder who works effectively across technical teams, business functions, event stakeholders, and external vendors.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
