Job Description
Job Summary The successful candidate will oversee the daily operations of our landfill facilities and will be responsible for ensuring compliance with all environmental regulations, optimizing landfill efficiency, and managing a team of landfill operators. This role requires strong leadership, technical expertise in landfill operations, and a commitment to safety and environmental stewardship.
Essential Functions • Direct and supervise daily landfill operations, including waste placement, compaction, cover application, and leachate management. • Monitor and maintain equipment, ensuring proper functioning and scheduling necessary repairs. • Optimize landfill airspace utilization and maximize operational efficiency. • Implement and enforce operational procedures and best practices. • Ensure strict adherence to all local, state, and federal environmental regulations, permits, and licenses. • Maintain accurate records and prepare reports as required by regulatory agencies. • Conduct regular inspections to identify and address potential compliance issues. • Stay informed of changes in environmental regulations and implement necessary adjustments. • Supervise, train, and mentor a team of landfill operators. • Conduct performance reviews and provide constructive feedback. • Foster a positive and safe working environment. • Schedule and assign tasks to ensure efficient workflow. • Manage inventory of supplies, materials, and equipment. • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.

Responsibilities
Education • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Experience • Proven experience in landfill operations, with at least 5 years in a supervisory role.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental regulations pertaining to landfill operations. • Strong understanding of waste management principles, including waste types, disposal methods, and environmental impacts. • Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team.
Other Requirements • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. • Proficiency in using heavy equipment common to landfill operations. • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks. • Work environment will be both indoors in an office and outside in the quarry or plant. • Will occasionally be required to sit at a desk or operator's station. • Will perform activities in unprotected heights, around moving machinery, be exposed to dust, fumes and gases; may be required to use hand tools or power tools. • Will be exposed to changes in temperature/humidity and will require walking on uneven surfaces.
Salary Range. The base salary range for this role is between $95,000 - $127,000 annual salary. This range is not inclusive of our discretionary bonus or equity package. When determining a candidate’s compensation, we consider a number of factors, including skillset, experience, job scope, and current market data.
