Join Vultr

Vultr is expanding its India presence and is building its first Global Integrated Operations Command Center (GIOC) in Chennai — the 24x7 nerve center for monitoring, triage, and first response across Vultr’s global cloud, systems, network, and security operations.

We are seeking Systems Engineers to serve as the first line of response for Vultr’s systems estate — compute, storage, operating systems, and virtualization. This is a frontline operations role for engineers who thrive in a fast-paced, alert-driven environment and want to grow into deeper SRE, systems, and platform engineering careers. You must be comfortable working on a rotational shift model (24x7) — including nights, weekends, and holidays, to ensure we have full coverage.

Role Overview

Vultr is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Physical Security Evaluator to evaluate and strengthen physical security controls across its global data center facilities. This role is responsible for conducting risk-based security assessments, identifying vulnerabilities, validating the effectiveness of security controls, and driving corrective actions to closure. The position will assess critical security measures, including perimeter protection, access control, CCTV surveillance, intrusion detection, visitor management, and security guard operations.

Working closely with global security teams, data center operators, third-party security vendors, and other stakeholders, the specialist will provide evidence-based assessment reports, track remediation progress, support security incident investigations and customer audits, and recommend improvements to Vultr’s physical security standards and processes. The ideal candidate combines practical physical security expertise with strong analytical, documentation, and stakeholder management skills, and is comfortable working independently and travelling domestically and internationally as required..

Key Responsibilities

- Conduct risk-based physical security assessments of data center facilities within the assigned region, using approved assessment plans, checklists, documentation reviews, interviews, and on-site inspections.

- Evaluate physical security controls, including perimeter protection, access control, visitor management, CCTV/video management systems, intrusion detection, alarm response, security control rooms, guard force operations, and access authorization processes.

- Review relevant security policies, procedures, site documentation, logs, incident records, and other evidence to determine whether controls are appropriately designed and operating effectively.

- Document findings with supporting evidence, assess potential business and security impact, and assign risk ratings in accordance with Vultr’s approved methodology.

- Work with control owners, data center providers, vendors, and internal stakeholders to agree remediation plans, owners, target dates, and escalation paths for identified gaps.

- Track corrective actions to closure, escalate overdue or material risks, and validate remediation evidence before findings are marked as resolved.

- Prepare clear, concise assessment reports that summarize the facility’s security posture, key risks, control gaps, recommended actions, and remediation status.

- Maintain an assessment register and provide periodic reporting on assessment coverage, critical and high-risk findings, overdue actions, recurring issues, exceptions, and remediation trends.

- Review physical security arrangements and service performance provided by colocation operators and contracted security vendors, including guard force procedures and relevant service-level expectations.

- Support physical security incident investigations, root-cause analysis, post-incident reviews, and follow-up assessments, as requested.

- Partner with Vultr Security teams, customers, and relevant stakeholders to review security documentation, support customer security reviews, and explain physical security controls and assessment outcomes.

- Identify opportunities to improve physical security standards, assessment methods, processes, and technologies based on findings, incidents, customer requirements, and industry developments.

- Keep Physical Security leadership informed of material findings, stakeholder engagement, open issues, exceptions, and activities that may affect the security posture of Vultr facilities.

- Maintain professional relationships with data center operators, security vendors, equipment manufacturers, and relevant industry professionals.

- Travel to data center facilities within the assigned region and internationally, as required, to conduct assessments and validate security controls.

Required Qualifications

- Experience level: 5–8 years in physical security, security assessments, security audits, investigations, or security operations.

- Experience assessing data center, colocation, critical infrastructure, or other high-security facilities.

- Practical knowledge of access control, CCTV/video management, intrusion detection, alarm monitoring, visitor management, perimeter security, and physical security operations.

- Experience conducting inspections or assessments, collecting and evaluating evidence, documenting control gaps, assessing risk, and tracking corrective actions.

- Working knowledge of contract security guard operations, incident management, and security procedures.

- Strong written and verbal English communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with technical teams, vendors, customers, and senior stakeholders.

- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, meet deadlines, and handle sensitive security information appropriately.

- Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 50%.

Preferred Qualifications

- Relevant professional certification, such as ASIS Physical Security Professional (PSP) or Certified Protection Professional (CPP).

- Familiarity with ISO 27001 physical security controls, ISO 22301 business continuity, or other relevant security assurance frameworks.

- Experience with audit or risk registers, corrective action tracking, security exceptions, and executive-level reporting.

- Experience reviewing colocation provider security controls and responding to customer security questionnaires or audit requests.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
