Associate Financial Advisor
ACCOUNTABILITY STATEMENT A VyStar Investment Services Associate Financial Advisor will work in unison with one or more Financial Advisors offering financial solutions through a wide variety of products and services to members. The Associate Financial Advisor will support the entire sales process including lead generation, marketing, and servicing through mentoring relationship with the Financial Advisor(s). The position goal is to deepen relationships within the existing clientele base through seeking additional opportunities to increase members’ breadth of services in addition to cultivating new relationships and to become a Financial Advisor This is accomplished through a team environment that consists of senior advisor(s) mentoring and training the Associate Financial Advisor. A VyStar Investment Services Associate Financial Advisor will present a professional image to both staff and members. Additionally, they are responsible for cultivating a mutually beneficial working relationship with the entire VCU staff for the ultimate goal of positioning VyStar Credit Union as the financial intuition of choice for all members’ financial needs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Present a professional image at all times
- Completely master all operational functions to secure success as a Financial Advisor
- Cultivate strong working relationships and build trust among VCU staff and members
- Follows the sales process and procedures as established through VyStar Investment Services’ Broker/Dealer.
- Follow established policies and procedures of ethical market conduct. Conduct business according to high standards of honesty, fairness and integrity and render service to members which in the same circumstance we would demand of ourselves.
- Effectively gather and maintain information from prospects and clients regarding financial data, objectives, risk tolerance, time frame, investment experience and other information as required by FINRA fiduciary standards rules.
- Work with Financial Advisors on case development, planning and strategy of investment recommendations and implementation.
- Deepen relationships with members through frequent and meaningful contacts
- Develop and implement specific marketing campaigns from within book of business identifying potential clients through the use of advertising campaigns, personal contacts and seminars.
- Provide input for business-building ideas.
- Present and train staff at branch meetings and/or new employee training
- Accountable for learning VCU products and services and is required to provide referrals to Members Services teammates for the various needs uncovered through the fact finding process.
- Conducts research to resolve client problems/issues.
- Prepare and assist with account opening and service related documents; follow up as necessary.
- Prepare sales presentations and communications and acquire compliance approval.
- Assist with additional duties as necessary to help grow VIS business.
- Attend all required training, informational meetings scheduled by VIS and VCU Management to lead toward the advancement to a Financial Advisor.
- Follow all regulatory and firm compliance requirements.
- Achieve satisfactory regulatory audit results.

To enhance a healthy risk culture and support our growth for good pillar, employees will maintain vigilance in safeguarding our operations while ensuring compliance with regulatory mandates. The Risk team serves as the second line of defense by providing risk oversight and credible challenge whereas the Audit team serves as the third line of defense by providing risk assurance.

JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Registration for FINRA Series 7 and Series 66 (or 63 & 65) or FINRA recognized equivalents must be obtained within 6 months from start in the position to remain in this position.
- State Life, Health and Variable Annuity License must be obtained within 6 months from start in the position to remain in this position.
- Ability to work in a team-based environment under the direction and mentorship of senior Financial Advisor(s).
- Ability to comply with written procedures of broker-dealer and VCU.
- Self-motivated and task oriented.
- Good customer service and co-worker relationship skills.
- Ability to perform multiple tasks while maintaining good organizational skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and within time frames.
- Microsoft Word XP or comparable word processing experience.
- Comfortable using Personal Computer with aptitude for learning proprietary programs
EDUCATION
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred, but not required if the applicant has 2 years of sales experience in the financial industry.
