The posting

Full-time | Permanent | Te Awamutu

Turn complex data into insights that help shape decisions in a community-owned electricity business.

We’re looking for a Financial and Regulatory Analyst to join Waipā Networks. You’ll work across financial analysis, management reporting and regulatory reporting, helping us understand how the business is performing and make well-informed decisions.

This role will suit someone who enjoys getting into the detail, finding the story behind the numbers and explaining it clearly to others. Working with people across Finance, Technology and our Network teams, you'll see your analysis contributing to planning and decisions that affect the communities we serve.

Why join Waipā Networks?

We’re a community-owned electricity distribution business supplying power to more than 60,000 people across Cambridge, Te Awamutu, Kāwhia, Tamahere and surrounding areas.

You’ll be part of an essential local business where your work helps inform decisions about our network, our customers and our communities.

What you’ll enjoy

  • Fully funded health insurance for you and your whānau
  • Life insurance cover worth twice your base salary
  • Flexible working arrangements to help balance work and life
  • The opportunity to improve how data and reporting are used across the business
  • Working with a range of teams and seeing the practical impact of your work
  • A supportive team and a stable, permanent role in an essential industry.

What the role involves

You’ll develop financial analysis and models to support planning, pricing and investment decisions, while helping strengthen the accuracy and reliability of our regulatory reporting and network billing data.

In this role, you’ll:

  • Develop reports and analysis that explain financial and operational performance, highlight key drivers and risks, and support future planning
  • Build financial models and undertake scenario analysis to support long-term planning and investment decisions
  • Support regulatory reporting, including Commerce Commission Information Disclosures
  • Bring together data from different systems, investigate anomalies and explain variances
  • Improve reporting processes, controls and documentation, including automation of manual processes
  • Work with people across the business to resolve data issues and improve reporting practices.

About you

You’re an experienced analyst with a strong grounding in finance and confidence working with complex data. You’re someone who notices when something doesn’t add up, enjoys working out why, and can turn your findings into clear insights that help others make decisions. You'll bring:

  • At least five years’ relevant experience in financial analysis, management reporting, regulatory reporting, business intelligence or a similar field
  • A relevant tertiary qualification in finance, accounting, economics, analytics or a related discipline
  • Strong modelling and analytical skills, including advanced Excel and experience with tools such as Power BI and SQL
  • Experience bringing together and reconciling data from multiple sources
  • A sound understanding of financial concepts, budgeting, forecasting and internal controls
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work with both financial and non-financial colleagues.

Experience in electricity distribution, infrastructure or another regulated industry would be an advantage. Familiarity with Commerce Commission Information Disclosure requirements would also be useful but isn’t essential.

How to apply

We run a structured, in-house recruitment process, including pre-employment vetting. You’ll need the right to work permanently in Aotearoa New Zealand and be currently living here.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.

What if my background isn't good enough?

We make the most of the background you have. The CV uses every piece of relevant proof your profile holds, and one of the 25 readers reads your whole profile and flags what the CV left out.

Do you really apply for me?

Yes, on the employer's own form, the hardest ones included. Where a question needs you, you answer it right there and AI suggests the best answer. Don't want us applying from our IP addresses? Use our Chrome extension: we apply straight from your own browser.

Is it a subscription?
