We are team of highly skilled engineers owning Data Foundations and Avoid pillar in Customer Care Tech from Bengaluru, India. Team is rightly balanced delivering critical business initiatives at the same time very focused on innovation, engineering and operational excellence. This team is responsible for building an enterprise-scale, AI-powered platform that transforms customer and operational signals into actionable insights to identify defects and improve customer experience. This work enables proactive issue resolution, improved operational efficiency, and progress toward Walmart’s vision of delivering Perfect Orders.

Our mission is to support all business functions while leveraging state-of-the-art AI and GenAI capabilities to enhance agent experience and productivity, empower customers with self-service options, and reduce average handle time in client-agent interactions.

We are seeking a hands-on highly skilled and experienced Director of Software Engineer to join our team. In this people leadership role, you will report directly to the Sr. Director of Engineering and GenAI.

What you'll do:

As a director, you will be instrumental in defining the technical vision and architecture of systems, ensuring they meet performance, security, and scalability requirements. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, guide engineering efforts, and lead the adoption of cutting-edge technologies to build reliable, high-quality platform software solutions. You will own attracting, developing, and growing top engineering talent while fostering a culture of innovation and high performance.

  • Build, develop and guide high-performing talent. Define a long-term talent strategy cutting across technology. Provide supervision, mentoring and development opportunities for the team who report into you.
  • Provide guidance in applying the right architectural pattern for the modernization of the applications by analyzing the gaps between existing architecture and new business requirements
  • Drive automation using more adoption and CI/CD maturity
  • Drive implementation of telemetry features based on the domain requirements to improve the overall operational excellence of the application
  • Technical leadership in building a complex microservices based platform or product that are highly reliable, and scalable
  • Drive technical impact analysis, conduct RCAs with corrective actions for both short; long term fixes and prevent them from re-occurring
  • Operating with excellence Set an example in managing to KPIs, delivering excellence, presenting at all levels, and developing yourself and others
  • Analyze system performance impacting the complete product for non-functional requirements like reliability, operability, performance efficiency and security
  • Develops and implements strategies to attract and maintain a highly skilled and engaged workforce by diagnosing capability gaps; recruiting, selecting, and developing talent; supporting mentorship, workforce development, and succession planning; and leveraging the capabilities of new and existing talent

What you'll bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 15+ years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Deep working knowledge of all aspects of Cloud native distributed system development: Azure/ GCP/ WCNP preferred
  • Experience working with micro-services architecture and distributed systems.
  • Experience managing software development engineers, leaders, architects and leading engineering projects, guiding engineering teams on engineering excellence; solid system design
  • Strong expertise in enterprise data management, governance, privacy, security, regulatory compliance, data lifecycle management, retention and expiry, data freshness, quality, and access management across diverse data ecosystems.
  • Demonstrated leadership in defining and executing enterprise data strategies, establishing scalable data platforms and governance frameworks, driving cross-functional alignment, and ensuring data is trusted, secure, compliant, accessible, and fit for business and AI-driven use cases.
  • Experience partnering with cross-functional project development and in collaborating with other scrum teams, QA, Release Management, Program Management, and TechOps
  • Proven experience in the design, development, and scaling of software platforms for large user bases, focusing on modularity and extensibility.
  • Platform-focused decision-making, balancing technical and business needs in fast-paced, complex environments to ensure performance and scalability.
  • Experience collaborating with geographically distributed teams to align on platform goals.
  • Strong business acumen, integrating technical vision with strategic business insights.
