The Senior Technician also supports special projects, manages parts inventory, and collaborates with cross-functional teams to enhance processes and implement effective HVAC/R solutions. This role requires a commitment to operational excellence and regulatory adherence. About the team: The team is committed to maintaining high store standards by achieving refrigerated case ratings of 90% or higher. They focus on identifying root causes to implement effective, lasting solutions. Through collaboration and mutual support, the team efficiently meets shared goals. Utilizing specialized HVAC repair and maintenance skills, they ensure compliance with EPA regulations and OSHA guidelines. Their dedication to safety, quality, and preventive maintenance fosters a reliable environment that supports store operations and enhances overall customer satisfaction. What you'll do:

  • Oversee installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
  • Lead diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant issues across commercial and industrial equipment.
  • Implement and monitor preventive maintenance programs to optimize equipment performance and reduce downtime.
  • Manage refrigerant handling, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and HVAC/R codes.
  • Coordinate and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating skill development.
  • Maintain parts inventory, vendor relationships, and service schedules to meet business priorities.
  • Participate in on-call rotation to support critical operational needs outside regular hours.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience in installation, commissioning, and maintenance of HVAC/R systems, including refrigeration units and building pneumatics.
  • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant systems in commercial and industrial settings.
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant handling protocols, and compliance with HVAC/R codes and environmental regulations.
  • Ability to lead and mentor field teams, providing hands-on training and evaluating technician performance.
  • Proficiency in managing parts inventory, vendor relationships, and coordinating service calls to meet business priorities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills to support process improvements and cross-functional initiatives.
  • Commitment to safety, integrity, and continuous improvement in a dynamic work environment.

The hourly wage range for this position is $35.00 - $70.00*

*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

Option 1: 3 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration. Option 2: 6 years’ experience in HVAC/grocery rack refrigeration and Associate of Applied Science (AAS) in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration. Hold and maintain Type I and Type II or Universal Environmental Protection Agency certification for refrigerant handling. Where required, HVAC-R/ Mechanical Journeyman. 1 year’s experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or related area or 2 years’ Walmart store experience. Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report. Commercial driving record with no convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI within the last five (5) years. Commercial driving record with no more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years. No preventable accidents while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years. No serious traffic violations, as defined by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three (3) years.
