Role summary: The (USA) Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services-DOT, is responsible for maintaining safe, clean, and efficient exterior facility operations. This role ensures compliance with safety and environmental regulations while managing equipment, performing seasonal maintenance, and coordinating repairs. The technician supports cost control through effective sourcing and budgeting, leads third-party providers, and delivers quality service to meet facility needs. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential to address customer concerns and uphold company standards. This position contributes to sustaining facility functionality and safety through proactive maintenance and operational excellence. About the team: The Exterior Services team ensures Walmart’s outdoor areas are well-maintained through expert landscape care and irrigation repairs. This team manages projects efficiently while adhering to safety and environmental standards. Collaborating with internal and external partners, members deliver quality service, resolve challenges, and implement improvements that enhance sustainability and cost efficiency. The team supports professional development by sharing knowledge and guidance, upholding Walmart’s commitment to integrity, operational excellence, and maintaining a safe, clean environment for all associates and customers. What you'll do:

  • Operate and maintain facility exterior services, including seasonal snow and ice management using appropriate equipment.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety and environmental policies.
  • Manage vehicle maintenance, inspections, and documentation to guarantee operational readiness.
  • Lead third-party providers, conduct quality inspections, and coach associates to uphold service standards.
  • Control costs through price comparisons and approve purchases of parts, materials, and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve facility user concerns to maintain a safe, clean, and functional environment.
  • Prepare budgets, develop scopes of work, and implement facility upgrades for sustainability and efficiency.

What you'll bring:

  • Proven experience operating and maintaining heavy machinery and powered equipment in compliance with safety standards.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations relevant to exterior facility services.
  • Ability to manage budgets, including cost estimation and purchase approvals for parts and equipment.
  • Skilled in troubleshooting, quality assurance inspections, and resolving customer concerns effectively.
  • Demonstrated leadership in coaching, performance evaluations, and managing third-party service providers.
  • Competence in seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management operations.
  • Commitment to upholding company policies, ethics, and safety procedures consistently.

The hourly wage range for this position is $19.00 - $35.00*

*The actual hourly rate will equal or exceed the required minimum wage applicable to the job location.

Additional compensation in the form of premiums may be paid in amounts ranging from $0.35 per hour to $3.00 per hour in specific circumstances. Premiums may be based on schedule, facility, season, or specific work performed. Multiple premiums may apply if applicable criteria are met.

Minimum Qualifications...

Outlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position. If none are listed, there are no minimum qualifications.

21 years of age or older.

Valid state-issued driver’s license.

No convictions for DUI, DWI, OUI, or reckless driving involving alcohol or drugs within the last three (3) years.

No more than two (2) moving violations in the last three (3) years, if driving a commercial motor vehicle.

No serious traffic violations (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.

No preventable accidents (as defined by Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations) in the last three (3) years, if operating a commercial motor vehicle.

Successful completion of a DOT physical and medical certification pre- hire.

As required by section 391.11(b)(2) of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations, ability to read and speak in the English language.

2 years’ experience in the landscaping/gardening industry

Able to successfully complete a DOT physical and secure medical certification during pre-hire contingency and be able to maintain a minimum of a 90 day Medical Examiner’s Certification (MEC) card, Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or related area., Experience in third-party management., Experience using intermediate level functionality of word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software (for example, Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)., Proficient in speaking and understanding Spanish., State/local licensing where required (for example, Florida, Texas, California, etc).
