The posting

Position Summary...

At Walmart, we’re building the future of omnichannel retail by creating products, services, and experiences that make shopping easier, faster, and more valuable for millions of customers.

As Group Director, Product, Services, Buy-in-Store & Local Marketing, you will lead the marketing strategy for a diverse portfolio of customer propositions across Walmart’s physical and digital ecosystem. From the Walmart app and emerging products and services to fulfillment propositions, service offerings, local marketing, and experiences that help customers discover and buy in store, this leader will shape how customers understand, adopt, and engage with some of Walmart’s most important capabilities.

This leader will serve as the strategic bridge between the customer, business, product, operations, and Marketing, translating complex capabilities into compelling customer propositions and integrated go-to-market strategies. The role will influence products and services upstream through customer and market insight, lead commercialization and launch, and drive sustained adoption and growth throughout the lifecycle.

The Group Director will also connect a broad portfolio of products and services into a cohesive customer story, ensuring Walmart communicates not simply individual features, but the collective value of shopping Walmart across stores, digital experiences, and emerging services.

Leading a large, multi-disciplinary marketing organization, this role will operate with significant autonomy and executive visibility, partnering across Product, eCommerce, Store Operations, Merchandising, Technology, Strategy, Insights, and Marketing. Success requires a customer-obsessed, commercially minded leader who can move fluidly between enterprise strategy, product innovation, go-to-market execution, growth, and organizational leadership.

What you'll do...

Define the Product & Services Marketing Strategy

  • Develop and lead the overarching B2C marketing strategy across Walmart’s portfolio of products, services, digital experiences, fulfillment propositions, in-store capabilities, and emerging customer offerings.
  • Establish a cohesive strategic narrative that connects individual products and services to the broader value proposition of shopping Walmart.
  • Define differentiated positioning, value propositions, messaging, and customer benefits that translate complex capabilities into simple, compelling reasons for customers to engage.
  • Establish clear portfolio strategies that determine how products and services should be positioned individually, bundled together, or integrated into the broader Walmart customer experience.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen customer awareness and understanding of existing capabilities that may be underutilized or misunderstood.
  • Develop scalable product and services marketing frameworks that can be applied across mature businesses, emerging propositions, and new capabilities.
  • Translate enterprise and business priorities into clear marketing choices, investment priorities, and measurable customer outcomes.

Shape Products & Services Through Customer Insight

  • Serve as the voice of the customer with Product, Business, Technology, Operations, and Strategy teams as new products and services are developed.
  • Influence product strategies and roadmaps through customer insights, behavioral data, competitive intelligence, marketplace trends, and business performance.
  • Partner with Customer Insights & Analytics to uncover unmet customer needs, friction points, emerging behaviors, and whitespace opportunities.
  • Assess the customer and market opportunity for emerging products and services before significant commercialization investments are made.
  • Leverage customer segmentation, use cases, and jobs-to-be-done that inform product development, positioning, and marketing strategy.
  • Ensure new propositions solve meaningful customer problems and have a clear, differentiated reason to exist before entering the market.
  • Translate complex customer, operational, and business information into actionable recommendations for senior and executive leadership.

Lead Product Incubation & Commercialization

  • Partner with Product, Business, Technology, Operations, and Strategy teams from early-stage concept through commercialization, launch, and scale.
  • Develop the customer proposition, positioning, messaging, audience strategy, and go-to-market approach for new and emerging products and services.
  • Lead integrated go-to-market planning across Marketing and business partners, establishing clear objectives, audiences, roles, timing, channels, and measures of success.
  • Determine the appropriate commercialization approach based on the maturity, scale, and customer opportunity of each proposition, from test-and-learn pilots to national launches.
  • Build launch strategies that accelerate awareness, trial, adoption, engagement, and sustained usage.
  • Establish commercialization frameworks and repeatable operating models that improve speed to market while maintaining strong customer and brand discipline.
  • Create feedback loops between launch performance, customer response, and product teams to inform continued product development and optimization.
  • Establish clear criteria for when emerging capabilities are ready to move from incubation to broader commercialization and scale.

Accelerate Customer Adoption & Growth

  • Own marketing strategies that drive awareness, acquisition, trial, adoption, engagement, repeat usage, retention, and lifetime value across Walmart's product and services portfolio.
  • Identify barriers preventing customers from discovering, understanding, or using Walmart products and services and develop strategies to overcome them.
  • Partner with Growth, CRM, Media, Product, and Digital teams to create full-funnel customer journeys that move customers from awareness to sustained behavior.
  • Develop lifecycle marketing strategies that deepen engagement with existing products and services beyond initial launch.
  • Identify cross-product opportunities that introduce customers to additional Walmart capabilities based on their needs and behaviors.
  • Use experimentation, testing, behavioral insights, AI, and analytics to continuously optimize customer adoption and marketing effectiveness.
  • Establish success metrics with Insights, Analytics, Finance, and business partners that connect marketing activity to customer behavior and business outcomes.
  • Develop strategies to reintroduce or reposition existing capabilities when customer awareness, understanding, or adoption is below their potential.

Lead Marketing for Customer Products, Services & Fulfillment

  • Lead marketing strategy for customer-facing digital products and experiences, including the Walmart app and emerging digital capabilities.
  • Develop marketing strategies for Walmart's growing portfolio of customer services, ensuring customers understand the value Walmart can provide beyond the traditional retail transaction.
  • Shape customer positioning and go-to-market strategies for fulfillment and convenience propositions, including delivery and other emerging fulfillment models.
  • Translate operational capabilities into customer-facing benefits and propositions that are simple, differentiated, and relevant.
  • Partner with Product, eCommerce, Store Operations, Last Mile, and other teams to ensure the customer proposition and experience align from marketing promise through delivery.
  • Identify opportunities to connect products, services, fulfillment capabilities, and digital experiences into stronger integrated customer propositions.
  • Develop strategies for emerging capabilities where the customer proposition, business model, or path to scale may still be evolving.

Drive Buy-in-Store & Local Marketing

  • Lead marketing strategies designed to drive customer discovery, consideration, and purchase within Walmart stores.
  • Develop strategies that connect enterprise marketing priorities to the physical shopping experience and influence customer behavior closer to the point of purchase.
  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Store Operations, Retail Brand & Experience, and other teams to identify opportunities to translate customer and category priorities into compelling in-store marketing.
  • Develop the strategic approach to local marketing, enabling Walmart to connect enterprise priorities with the unique needs, events, customer dynamics, and business opportunities of local markets.
  • Establish frameworks that determine when localized marketing can create incremental customer and business value versus when enterprise-scale approaches are more effective.
  • Identify opportunities to connect local, digital, and store experiences to create more relevant omnichannel customer journeys.
  • Establish measurement approaches that help Walmart understand the incremental customer and business impact of in-store and local marketing efforts.
  • Create scalable approaches that enable local relevance without creating unnecessary fragmentation or complexity across the enterprise.

Lead Across the Enterprise

  • Serve as a senior strategic marketing partner to leaders across Product, eCommerce, Store Operations, Merchandising, Technology, Last Mile, Strategy, Finance, and other businesses.
  • Represent the customer and marketing perspective in major product, service, and business decisions.
  • Influence product and business leaders through customer insight, market intelligence, commercial judgment, and compelling executive storytelling.
  • Build alignment across complex, highly matrixed organizations with different objectives, timelines, and measures of success.
  • Connect work across products, services, stores, and digital experiences to identify opportunities individual teams may not see within their respective areas.
  • Establish clear roles and decision rights between Product Marketing, business owners, Product, and broader Marketing teams.
  • Navigate competing priorities and investment choices while maintaining focus on the opportunities with the greatest customer and business impact.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on customer adoption, commercialization, and emerging growth opportunities.

Build Organizational Capability & Lead Talent

  • Lead, coach, and develop a large, high-performing organization spanning Product, Services, Buy-in-Store, and Local Marketing capabilities.
  • Establish a clear organizational vision, priorities, accountabilities, and operating model across a diverse portfolio of work.
  • Build deep product marketing, commercialization, growth marketing, and customer strategy capabilities across the organization.
  • Develop talent through coaching, differentiated experiences, exposure, mobility, and meaningful stretch opportunities.
  • Build succession and a strong pipeline of future marketing leaders.
  • Create an environment grounded in customer obsession, strategic rigor, experimentation, accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Build organizational capabilities that leverage AI, automation, experimentation, and modern marketing technologies to increase speed and effectiveness.
  • Continuously assess how the organization, roles, and capabilities should evolve as Walmart's portfolio of customer products and services expands.
