The posting
As a Port Network Management Specialist, you will analyze port and terminal capacity constraints, identify the root causes of congestion, and lead mitigation plans to minimize operational disruptions. Working closely with our Business Operations Execution (BOE), Customer Growth (CG), and Port, Terminal and Stevedoring Operations (PTSO) teams, you will help develop smarter solutions to improve vessel scheduling, optimize port rotations, and maximize network efficiency.
Your work will directly contribute to faster, more cost-effective vessel turnarounds, increased shipping capacity, improved operating earnings, and better Carbon Intensity Indicator (CII) performance across our fleet.
*This is a hybrid role requiring on-site presence in our Savannah, GA office*
What You'll Do:
- Analyze port capacity, vessel lineups, and operational bottlenecks to identify capacity gaps and opportunities for improvement.
- Monitor port conditions, terminal capacity, competitor vessel activity, and trade flows to establish early warning indicators and address potential congestion before it escalates.
- Lead the development and execution of mitigation strategies, alternative port arrangements, and optimized vessel rotations to minimize delays and operational disruption.
- Evaluate shipping schedules, import and export flows, and port rotation alternatives to improve vessel turnaround times and restore valuable shipping capacity.
- Stay informed of Panama Canal regulations, transit schedules, and competitor activities to support effective operational planning and decision-making.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across Shipping Services, Customer Growth, and Logistics Services, as well as external port and terminal partners, to align priorities and implement solutions.
- Conduct operational studies, data analysis, and network assessments to support informed decisions and identify opportunities such as hub-and-spoke network optimization.
- Support alignment across business units on shared strategies, objectives, and key results (OKRs) to improve overall network performance.
What You'll Need:
- Solid knowledge of the shipping industry, with 3–5 years of relevant experience preferred.
- An understanding of shipping networks, vessel schedules, port and terminal operations, and the factors that influence operational efficiency.
- The ability to investigate complex operational challenges, identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and translate findings into practical solutions.
- Confidence in anticipating challenges, taking ownership, making timely decisions, and driving continuous improvement.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to influence and coordinate across teams, regions, and organizational levels.
- The ability to work autonomously, balance detailed analysis with a broader strategic perspective, and make sound decisions in a fast-moving environment.
- Cross-cultural awareness and the ability to build effective relationships with colleagues and external partners across diverse markets and business functions.
