The posting

WebBeds is one of the world’s largest accommodation suppliers to the travel industry. We are a global company offering ground services (hotels, transfers, tours, activities) to travel professionals. Our products cover our full business needs, from distribution APIs, payment integrations, SAP integration, Data Lakes, User Interfaces, and others. Our search API reaches peaks of more than 50.000 requests per second, each one with tens or hundreds of hotels. And those numbers are growing every year.

"We design, deliver and support innovative solutions through engagement, collaboration and a fearsome passion for creating customer value" is our mission as an IT organization.

With this in mind, we strive to be at the leading edge of technology when it comes to building the platform that meets the needs of our customers. This translates to the use of latest .NET Core versions, K8S, microservices architecture, multiple clouds, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing or great monitoring and alerting systems, to name a few.

Our delivery teams have the creativity and freedom to express themselves by building innovative solutions to often complex problems and are challenged to reach higher levels daily. Our teams consist of product owners, QA engineers, Software Engineers, and people from across the business all working collectively and collaboratively. We have a very strong technical team from which you will be able to learn but are encouraged by new ideas and fresh thinking that you will bring with you.

What you will do on your journey with WebBeds.

As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a key role in ensuring the availability, performance and reliability of our technology platforms and applications. Working across development and infrastructure teams, you will monitor and support production environments, troubleshoot complex issues and drive improvements through automation, better monitoring and modern engineering practices.

This role requires someone proactive and curious, who enjoys getting to the root of problems, takes ownership of challenges and can balance keeping critical systems running with making them better for the future.

In this role you will:

Key responsibilities

  • Modernise legacy applications: work with legacy applications and help transform them into modern technology.
  • Run the production environment: monitor availability and system health, and keep critical applications and services running to minimise downtime.
  • Build platform systems: build software and systems to manage platform infrastructure and applications.
  • Improve reliability and delivery: improve the reliability, quality and time-to-market of our software solutions, balancing feature development speed and reliability with well-defined service level objectives.
  • Measure and optimise performance: gather and analyse metrics from operating systems and applications to support performance tuning and fault finding, pushing our capabilities forward, getting ahead of customer needs and constantly innovating to improve.
  • Provide operational support: act as primary operational support and engineering for multiple software applications.
  • Partner with development teams: improve services through rigorous testing and release procedures, working closely with developers, especially when issues arise, to help with troubleshooting and provide consultation and prevention.
  • Contribute to design and planning: take part in system design consulting, platform management and capacity planning.
  • Automate for sustainability: create sustainable systems and services through automation and uplifts.
  • Collaborate across teams: work with the full IT department and the wider business, as required, to align on systems support and processes.

The skills we would love to see in your suitcase!

  • Ideally around 3 years of experience in a Site Reliability Engineer capacity.
  • A bachelor's degree in computer science or another highly technical or scientific discipline (nice to have, but not essential).
  • Code experience in one of the following languages: Go, C, C++, Rust or Python (other languages will be considered based on experience).
  • Knowledge of cloud infrastructure in Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud or Azure.
  • Experience using the Linux operating system.
  • Experience using containers (Docker, containerd), Kubernetes and popular tools within the ecosystem, like ArgoCD, with proficiency in networking gateways, NAT, routing tables, firewalls, etc.
  • A proactive approach to spotting problems, areas for improvement and performance bottlenecks.
  • An eagerness to learn, develop and constantly improve, with a flexible mindset and approach to technology.
  • A core interest in the travel industry, with a passion for technology (travel industry experience is not necessary).

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
