The Mentor will serve as a trusted and approachable point of contact for students on campus, helping them navigate university life, adjust to a new environment, address concerns, and stay on track academically and personally. This is a hands-on, campus-facing role that requires strong interpersonal skills, cultural sensitivity, sound judgment, and a commitment to following through on student concerns until resolution.

  • Location: On-campus – Palwal and Hisar, Haryana
  • Reporting To: Head of Student Affairs
  • Open Positions: 1
  • Career Growth: Student Affairs Leadership and Campus Operations

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

  • Student Mentoring and Wellbeing: Act as the primary point of contact for students, providing guidance, reassurance, and support. Listen to concerns, resolve routine issues, and promptly escalate sensitive or urgent matters through appropriate channels.
  • Academic Engagement and Accountability: Monitor student attendance, academic participation, and engagement. Identify early warning signs, follow up with students, and coordinate with university teams to help students remain on track.
  • Student Onboarding and Campus Integration: Assist new students with orientation, university processes, campus navigation, and adjustment to life in India. Encourage a welcoming and inclusive environment that promotes a sense of belonging across cultures.
  • University and Stakeholder Coordination: Build strong working relationships with faculty, university administration, hostel teams, and internal Student Affairs teams. Ensure clear communication, timely updates, and effective follow-through.
  • Student Activities and Development: Encourage participation in campus events, community initiatives, life-skills programmes, and career-readiness activities that contribute to students' overall development.
  • Documentation and Issue Tracking: Maintain accurate student records, activity reports, and issue logs. Monitor concerns through to resolution while ensuring student privacy and confidentiality.
  • Student Support and Escalation: Exercise sound judgment in handling student concerns independently and involve the Head of Student Affairs whenever necessary.

Key Performance Areas

  • Student Welfare: Ensure students feel safe, heard, supported, and connected to appropriate resources.
  • Academic Progress: Track attendance, participation, and academic concerns while ensuring timely intervention.
  • Campus Coordination: Maintain effective communication with students, university stakeholders, and internal leadership.
  • Student Experience: Support smooth onboarding, meaningful campus engagement, and timely resolution of student concerns.

Must-Have Skills

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Genuine empathy and a student-first approach.
  • Cultural sensitivity and the ability to build trust with international students.
  • Excellent organisational and coordination abilities.
  • Reliability, accountability, and consistent follow-through.
  • Discretion when handling confidential student information.
  • Sound judgment and the ability to identify situations requiring escalation.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Palwal or Hisar, Haryana.

Good-to-Have Skills

  • Experience in peer mentoring, student councils, NSS, NCC, or similar student-facing initiatives.
  • Exposure to counselling, psychology, or education-related coursework.
  • Experience coordinating campus events, student activities, or community programmes.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate is approachable, patient, organised, and dependable, with a genuine interest in supporting young people. They should remain calm in challenging situations, listen actively, communicate effectively, and be comfortable working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

The candidate must understand that student support involves more than providing guidance—it requires taking ownership of concerns, coordinating with the right stakeholders, and ensuring issues are followed through to resolution.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
