Mechanical Engineer – Cyclones
Location: Brisbane, Artarmon NSW or Perth WA

What you’ll do
- Technical Expertise: Become a subject matter expert in cyclone and cyclone cluster process equipment design, collaborating closely with designers, draftspeople, and discipline engineers to ensure technical excellence.
- Customer & Regulatory Compliance: Evaluate equipment against customer requirements and regulatory standards, including Australian and international codes, to identify and close compliance gaps.
- Project Delivery: Facilitate on-time delivery of equipment within budget by maintaining project documentation, conducting design reviews at key project milestones, and providing timely technical advice to internal and external stakeholders.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Support technical discussions and manage customer queries, working effectively with technical sales teams, project managers, designers, and engineering leadership to translate customer needs into engineering solutions.
- Field Engagement: Participate in site visits, commissioning, testing, and development activities at mines, mineral processing plants, and factories, ensuring practical insights inform engineering decisions.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to enhancing Weir Minerals Australia’s product stewardship program for process equipment and support design analysis tasks as required.
- Travel Requirements: Occasional local and overseas travel to customer sites, factories, and mines to support commissioning, service, and stakeholder engagement.

What you’ll bring
Must-haves:
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
- 2-5 years of practical experience with cyclone or cyclone cluster equipment in mining or related industries.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with customers, technical teams, and leadership.
- Experience in project engineering, including reviewing GA drawings, managing technical queries, and participating in design reviews.
Nice-to-haves:
- Exposure to mine-site operations through site visits, commissioning, or field support.
- Familiarity with FEA and CAD tools, preferably NX/Teamcenter.
- Experience in mineral process equipment such as mill liners and screens.
- Customer-facing engineering experience and stakeholder management skills.
