About Us

Wellington Management offers comprehensive investment management capabilities that span nearly all segments of the global capital markets. Our investment solutions, tailored to the unique return and risk objectives of institutional clients in more than 60 countries, draw on a robust body of proprietary research and a collaborative culture that encourages independent thought and healthy debate. As a private partnership, we believe our ownership structure fosters a long-term view that aligns our perspectives with those of our clients.

About the Role

The Product Owner, Portfolio Management & Investment Implementation Systems, is accountable for the vision, roadmap, prioritization, and outcomes of the capabilities that enable Portfolio Managers and Portfolio Analysts to make investment decisions and move an investment idea into implemented, compliant client portfolios. Scope covers portfolio construction, target management, investment implementation across constrained client accounts, pre-trade guideline adherence, and the orderly handoff of client-ready orders to the trading platform. These capabilities are enabled through Wellington's Portfolio Management System (PMS) and Portfolio Implementation platform (referred to internally as OMS – which is separate from our Trading execution platforms).

This role sits at the intersection of Investments, Trading, Implementation, Operations, Compliance, Data, and Technology. The Product Owner translates Investment Platform strategy and operating model priorities into a clear roadmap and prioritized backlog, ensuring the firm can efficiently move from portfolio intent to implementation, execution, and downstream operational processing.

The Product Owner is accountable for what is delivered, when it is delivered, and why it matters. This includes ownership of product vision, roadmap priorities, sequencing decisions, capacity allocation, backlog management, and outcome realization. Technology partners are accountable for how solutions are designed, built, supported, and sustained.

RESPONSIBILITIES Product Vision, Strategy & Roadmap

  • Define and evolve the product vision and roadmap for PMS and OMS capabilities, aligned with Investment Platform strategy and the target operating model.
  • Translate business priorities and operating model objectives into a sequenced roadmap focused on measurable business outcomes.
  • Own the business outcomes and value delivered through PMS and OMS capabilities, ensuring investments improve adoption, workflow efficiency, handoff readiness to the trading platform, and the effectiveness of portfolio construction, implementation, and order management workflows.
  • Establish product objectives, success measures, and adoption goals.
  • Partner with business stakeholders, and technology partners to align capabilities with future-state workflows and the Investment Platform operating model.

Product Ownership & Prioritization

  • Own and prioritize the PMS and OMS product backlog.
  • Own roadmap commitments, sequencing decisions, and capacity allocation trade-offs.
  • Balance competing demands across Investments, Trading, Implementation, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Data, and Technology.
  • Make transparent trade-offs based on business value, risk, dependencies, and delivery capacity.

Investment Lifecycle Capabilities & Delivery

  • Own the vision, roadmap, and outcomes for capabilities supporting portfolio construction, target capture and monitoring, investment implementation across constrained client accounts, exposure and dispersion management, client guideline adherence, and orderly order handoff to the trading platform.
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers, Portfolio Analysts, Investment Implementation teams, Compliance, and investment leadership to evolve future-state PM & PA workflows and user experiences.
  • Engage regularly with end users and stakeholders to validate priorities, gather feedback, and ensure delivered capabilities create measurable value.
  • Manage dependencies with the trading platform (O/EMS), data, analytics, compliance, risk, and operational platforms to deliver integrated investment workflows end-to-end.

Stakeholder Management & Adoption

  • Serve as the primary product representative for business stakeholders and technology delivery teams.
  • Build alignment across Investments, Trading, Implementation, Operations, Compliance, Risk, Data, and Technology.
  • Drive adoption, stakeholder engagement, and realization of business value.

Agile Delivery & Innovation

  • Lead backlog refinement, prioritization, release planning, and product acceptance activities.
  • Participate actively in Agile planning and review activities to ensure teams understand priorities, outcomes, and success measures.
  • Identify and prioritize AI and advanced analytics opportunities that improve investment workflows, decision support, automation, and operational efficiency.

WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE

  • Portfolio managers, portfolio analysts, and implementation/trading teams view the product as a strategic enabler of the investment process, helping the firm move efficiently from portfolio intent to execution.
  • Product priorities are transparent, outcome-oriented, and aligned with the Investment Platform operating model.
  • Investment workflows are efficient, scalable, and supported by trusted data, effective controls, and measurable improvements in user adoption and business outcomes.

QUALIFICATIONS

EXPERIENCE

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
