About the Role

TITLE: Senior Software Engineer

TEAM: Portfolio Implementation Technology

LOCATION: Needham or Boston

...........................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

At Wellington Management, technology is central to how we invest. Our Portfolio Implementation Technology team builds systems that translate investment decisions into action across global markets. You'll work on a platform that's proven and mission-critical — the kind of environment where thoughtful engineering has immediate, visible impact. We're looking for senior engineers who want ownership, technical depth, and problems worth solving.

JOB OVERVIEW

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Portfolio Implementation Technology team, you'll design, build, and support the systems that implement investment decisions. You will work collaboratively with a strong team to ensure timely delivery of high-quality solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

· Design and implement software components and applications across the full stack — web, mobile, desktop, and platform-level services

· Influence architecture and drive technical decisions across the team, balancing near-term delivery with long-term platform health

· Partner with business teams, project managers, and systems analysts to turn business needs into clear requirements, specifications, and test plans

· Support the full delivery lifecycle: design, prototyping, implementation, testing, and production support

QUALIFICATIONS

· 5+ years of experience designing and developing durable and impactful software solutions with exposure to AI-driven agentic engineering practices

· Comfortable with SDLC tools such as issue tracking (JIRA / Linear), source code management (Git), CI/CD (Jenkins / GitHub Actions), IDEs (VS Code / IntelliJ / Eclipse), AI tools (Claude Code / GitHub Copilot), Cloud platforms (AWS / Azure), Languages (Java / Python / TypeScript), and databases (Oracle / MySQL)

· Excellent communication and commitment to working independently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment

· A mindset to be a dependable steward of a business-critical platform, while embracing continuous improvement

Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications? That’s ok. If you believe that you could excel in this role, we encourage you to apply and welcome a chance to review your background. We are dedicated to building and maintaining a diversified workforce and considering a broad array of candidates with a variety of skill, workplace experiences, and backgrounds.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
