Burlingame Family Pet Hospital is seeking an experienced Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) for a weekend-only position, with shifts available Saturday and/or Sunday. Burlingame Family Pet Hospital is currently operating out of our partner hospital, Village Square Woodside in Redwood City, while we work to secure a temporary location in San Carlos. Weekend team members will initially work at the Woodside location, with the expectation that the team will transition to a location within 30 minutes of Burlingame once secured.
We are seeking a versatile, client-focused technician who thrives in a dynamic general practice environment - balancing exam room care, client communication, and hands-on procedural support. We value credentialed technicians for the clinical knowledge, judgment, and communication skills they bring across all areas of the hospital, helping elevate the quality of medicine, client experience, and patient care.
In this position, you will play a key role in both outpatient and procedural workflows, contributing to a consistent, high standard of care throughout the patient visit.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting efficient exam room, outpatient, surgical, and dental workflows
- Performing anesthesia induction, monitoring, and recovery
- Assisting with surgical procedures, including patient preparation, positioning, surgical support, and post-operative care
- Performing dental procedures, including prophylaxis and radiography
- Maintaining accurate, detailed medical records and treatment documentation
- Reviewing treatment plans, medications, and discharge instructions with clients clearly and compassionately
- Identifying patient concerns and supporting efficient case management across the hospital
- Building strong client relationships through education, communication, and attentive service
Schedule and compensation:
- Compensation: $35 - $40 per hour, plus a $2 per hour weekend differential
- Part-time, weekend-only position with 8-hour shifts scheduled on Saturday and/or Sunday

Minimum qualifications and skill set:
- 3+ years of veterinary technician experience
- Active and good-standing Registered Veterinary Technician in the state of California**
- Proficiency in the following skills: Patient assessment, nursing care, and monitoring Anesthetic induction, monitoring, and recovery Surgical assistance and aseptic technique Dental prophylaxis and dental radiography Venipuncture and intravenous catheter placement Radiology positioning and safety protocols Medication administration and accurate drug calculations Strong critical thinking, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize and multitask in a fast-paced environment
**Recent graduates pending VTNE testing and licensure, or out-of-state license-holders who are eligible to transfer a license, are also encouraged to apply
