We are a culture that obsesses over impact, challenges, and drives what’s next to power infinite possibilities for our customers, colleagues and society at large.

About the Role:

As an Account Manager, you will be responsible for managing, retaining, and growing business within our corporate business across Japan, with a primary focus on pharmaceutical companies and the broader healthcare industry.. You'll build strong, consultative partnerships with key stakeholders — including marketing and medical affairs functions, as well as medical societies and physicians — while driving revenue growth through tailored, value-driven solutions.

In this role, you will independently manage a portfolio of accounts, develop strategic account plans, and use customer insights and data to identify opportunities, strengthen relationships, and deliver value-driven solutions. You will play a key role in helping customers achieve their marketing, medical education, and evidence generation objectives while contributing to the continued growth of Wiley's content and solutions offerings.

How You Will Make an Impact

  • Build and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders across pharmaceutical and healthcare industry accounts, including marketing, medical affairs, medical societies, and physicians.
  • Develop and execute strategic account plans to retain, grow, and expand existing customer relationships.
  • Manage contract renewals, negotiations, and compliance requirements while seeking opportunities to increase account value.
  • Analyze customer usage data and performance trends to assess account health, identify risks, and uncover growth opportunities.
  • Use data-driven insights to influence stakeholders, support negotiations, and deliver successful renewal outcomes.
  • Conduct customer research to better understand customer priorities, challenges, and market trends.
  • Proactively address customer needs and provide tailored solutions that support marketing, medical education, and evidence generation objectives.
  • Identify cross-selling opportunities and recommend relevant products and services that align with customers' marketing and medical education needs.
  • Manage and maintain a healthy sales pipeline while accurately capturing activities and opportunities within CRM systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to deliver an exceptional customer experience and achieve sales objectives.

What We Look For

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in account management, sales, or customer success.
  • Proven ability to manage a portfolio of accounts independently and drive business growth.
  • Demonstrated success in achieving and exceeding revenue or sales targets using a consultative sales approach.
  • Strong relationship-building, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and translate insights into action.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize, work autonomously, and manage multiple responsibilities in a dynamic environment.
  • Native-level Japanese and business-level English proficiency, enabling effective communication with Japan-based customers and global stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within publishing, research, or information services.
  • Knowledge of pharmaceutical marketing compliance, medical affairs processes, or medical education program development.
  • Experience working with pharmaceutical, healthcare, research, or scientific organizations.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
