Role: Data Engineer Tech Lead

Location: Remote, Portugal

Required skills:

  • 10+ years of experience in Data Engineering, with a strong track record of designing and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions.
  • Proven experience leading the delivery of real-time data products and streaming solutions in production environments.
  • Advanced hands-on expertise in Apache Flink and Apache Kafka.
  • Strong knowledge of real-time data processing, distributed systems, event-driven architecture and streaming technologies.
  • Extensive experience designing scalable data architectures and end-to-end data solutions.
  • Strong experience developing REST APIs, OpenAPI specifications, microservices and streaming interfaces.
  • Advanced knowledge of AWS cloud services, particularly MSK, Kinesis, Managed Service for Apache Flink, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS/EKS, S3 and IAM.
  • Experience establishing data quality frameworks, schema management, data governance and automated testing strategies.
  • Strong understanding of CI/CD practices and tools such as GitLab CI and GitHub Actions.
  • Hands-on experience with observability and monitoring solutions, including CloudWatch, OpenTelemetry, Prometheus and Grafana.
  • Strong understanding of cloud security, OAuth2/OIDC, authentication, authorisation, encryption and secrets management.
  • Proven experience managing production-critical services, SLAs, incident response and performance optimisation.
  • Experience producing and reviewing technical architecture designs and engineering documentation.
  • Previous experience in a Tech Lead, Technical Architect or Senior Engineering Leadership role, providing technical direction to engineering teams.
