The posting

About CanadianSIM CanadianSIM helps international students and newcomers arrive in Canada connected. Customers can arrange their Canadian SIM card and mobile plan before they travel, giving them one less thing to worry about when they land. The opportunity We are looking for a hands-on social media and content professional to take day-to-day ownership of CanadianSIM's organic presence across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook. You will manage our social media handles, plan and publish content, respond to comments and messages, strengthen audience engagement and grow a relevant community of followers. The role combines social channel management, content production, community engagement and performance analysis. You will create videos and marketing assets, write captions, monitor conversations, test new ideas and use performance data to improve reach, engagement, website traffic and enquiries. Airport arrival stories and customer testimonials are an important part of the content mix, alongside educational, promotional, product and community-focused content. What you will do

Manage CanadianSIM's social media handles day to day, including publishing, monitoring, comments, direct messages and audience engagement. Grow a relevant follower base and improve organic reach and engagement through consistent content, active community participation and ongoing testing. Plan, shoot and edit short-form videos for Instagram Reels, TikTok and YouTube Shorts. Film customer testimonials, arrival-day stories and supporting footage at airport arrival locations across the GTA. Approach customers respectfully, explain the filming process clearly and obtain written consent and releases. Create captions, subtitles, thumbnails, carousels, story frames and other supporting graphics. Create, edit and adapt marketing assets for digital and print use, including social graphics, campaign creative, flyers, brochures and sales-support materials, while maintaining brand consistency. Own and maintain a content calendar across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Facebook. Build an organized, searchable library of footage, templates and finished creative assets. Engage authentically in newcomer and international-student communities, including relevant Facebook groups, Reddit communities, WhatsApp or Telegram groups, Discord servers and creator comment sections. Build productive relationships with community administrators, student ambassadors, customers and micro-creators. Develop a customer-generated content program and identify strong organic content for paid amplification. Review performance data, test new approaches and report monthly on what worked, what did not and what to change next.

What you bring

Three or more years of social media, content or creator experience for a brand, business or established personal channel. A portfolio or reel featuring short-form video that you personally shot and edited. Strong mobile or mirrorless-camera shooting skills and proficiency with CapCut, Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro or similar editing software. A practical understanding of audio capture, lighting, framing, subtitles and same-day editing workflows. Working proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud, particularly Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro, as well as Canva or Figma. Ability to build reusable templates, edit existing artwork, resize creative for different channels and prepare polished, production-ready files. Confidence approaching and interviewing people in public while remaining respectful, clear and professional. Experience participating in moderated online communities without spamming or violating community rules. Clear written English, strong judgement and the ability to maintain a consistent brand voice. A test-and-learn mindset: you use analytics to improve hooks, topics, formats, thumbnails and posting times. Comfort using AI-assisted tools for scripting, editing, subtitling, scheduling or reporting. Ability to travel regularly to airport locations and other filming locations across the GTA.

Nice to have

First-hand experience arriving in Canada as an international student or newcomer. Multilingual communication skills are an asset. Experience with motion graphics, colour correction, community management platforms or social scheduling tools. Experience managing a subreddit, Facebook group, Discord server or other online community.

How to apply Please submit your resume, a link to your reel or portfolio, and a short response to this question: Which online community would you prioritize first for CanadianSIM, and what would your first contribution there be? Applications without a portfolio or reel link will not be considered. Shortlisted candidates may be invited to complete a paid practical assignment. CanadianSIM is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds. Accommodations are available upon request at every stage of the hiring process.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
