Type: Replacement An exciting full-time opportunity as a Regular Full-Time, Strategic Human Resources Business Partner (SHRBP) exists in the Human Resources Department reporting to the Manager, Human Resources.Using our Corporate Strategic Plan and People Strategy as a roadmap, the SHRBP will act as a change catalyst applying their breadth of HR skills and knowledge to partner with client groups. They will provide leadership, support, and strategic business thinking in clinical and non-clinical settings. The incumbent will collaborate with a variety of stakeholders to develop and implement creative solutions aligned with the Hospital's mission, vision and strategic direction in support of the overall goal of transforming healthcare and co-creating best health possible through innovative care, research, policy, education and system solutions. In addition, the incumbent will provide strategic consultation to leadership on talent management, total rewards employment and labour relations, workforce planning, engagement, and operational excellence.   What You’ll Do:

Partner with assigned clientele to identify operational needs in relation to workforce planning and succession management

Support leaders in timely, consistent and values-based people decisions by clarifying expectations, identifying gaps and following through on agreed actions.

Lead and/or participate in the execution of various components of the HR Strategy to enhance service delivery within the organization

Lead complex, cross-functional HR projects from scoping and planning through implementation and evaluation, establishing clear deliverables, timelines, roles, risks and measures of success.

Act as a business partner with program areas to provide HR analysis, communicate risk areas and work with the program managers to identify risk mitigation

Develop and execute change management strategies for organizational and HR initiatives, including stakeholder assessment, engagement, communications, readiness planning, adoption support and evaluation.

Effective administration, interpretation and application of Collective Agreements and Hospital policies, guidelines and directives Handles grievance and dispute resolution management, including representing the Hospital at mediations and partnering with legal counsel on matters proceeding to arbitration; escalates to the Manager, Human Resources as necessary Lead, participate and support union-management committees and meetings Coaches leaders in leveraging and maximizing the Hospital’s performance management tools for talent management, staff development and performance improvement plans  Proactively build and maintain strong relationships with assigned client group and key stakeholders including union leaders to support client needs and goals Facilitate timely resolution of all employee and labour relations issues while maintaining an appropriate balance between employee and management advocacy Conduct prompt employee and labour relations investigations with management and union where appropriate Partner and support Occupational Health and Safety, through return-to-work plans, accommodation, attendance support program and injury/illness reporting Develop, implement and analyze trends through reports and metrics to provide realistic solutions to business challenges and enhance awareness of HR best practices and emerging issues

Establish governance and reporting mechanisms for assigned initiatives, monitor progress against milestones and outcomes, address barriers and risks, and escalate decisions or resource requirements as appropriate.

Undergraduate degree in Business and/or Human Resource Management; Graduate degree preferred (e.g. MHRM, MIRHR) Certified Human Resources Professional designation (CHRP) preferred Minimum five (5) years’ experience as an HR professional in a unionized workplace Previous experience participating in the collective bargaining process Previous experience with compensation and benefits within a unionized environment Healthcare or broader public sector experience in HR strongly preferred Sound working knowledge and experience with HR practices and principles including provincial legislation (Human Rights, Employment Standards, AODA, Health and Safety), Collective Agreement administration and the ability to effectively interpret and apply accordingly Strong relationship management skills with experience in partnering, influencing, coaching and building credibility with leaders and the HR team Strong change management skills with demonstrated ability to act as a catalyst for change within the operation Strong business acumen and issue resolution skills with the ability to deal with situations in an open, objective and flexible manner Demonstrated record of good performance and acceptable attendance will be considered as part of the selection criteria Professional behaviour and communication that meets the standards of the professional regulatory college or association, as applicable, and the standards of Women’s College Hospital. Legally eligible to work in Ontario and reside in Ontario This position plays a critical role in acting as an advocate for safety and will demonstrate principles, practices and processes that will optimize a safe environment for all.
