Position Overview

As a Product Quality Project Lead, you will join the Product Quality team to lead cross-functional projects focused on identifying, containing, and resolving customer and field product quality issues while driving timely production and service solutions. You will collaborate with service engineering, design control, product support, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to assess customer feedback, analyze warranty and quality data, and lead issues through the Continuous Product Improvement (CPI) process.

This role also provides significant exposure to program leadership and product management, including supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs by assessing carry-over risks and contributing to analytics and AI initiatives that improve product issue management and visibility. The ideal candidate brings strong project leadership, technical understanding, data analytics, and issue management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, communicate with senior stakeholders, and drive complex issues to resolution.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional projects focused on resolving customer and field product quality issues from identification through final resolution.
  • Lead teams through the DMAIC/CPI (Continuous Product Improvement) process to develop and implement timely, cost-effective production and service solutions.
  • Collaborate with service engineering, design control, product support, manufacturing, and customer-facing teams to investigate and resolve product quality concerns.
  • Review incoming warranty information and product quality data to identify trends, risks, recurring issues, and opportunities for product improvement.
  • Collaborate with customer-facing teams to solicit, assess, and incorporate customer and dealer feedback into product quality initiatives.
  • Engage customers, dealers, suppliers, internal team members, and other business units to assess project results and communicate progress.
  • Drive project teams through key milestones, decisions, and deliverables while balancing effectiveness, velocity, cost, and customer impact.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) programs by assessing carry-over risks associated with existing product quality issues and previous field performance.
  • Provide program leadership and product management support across product quality initiatives and NPI activities.
  • Partner with commercial and customer-facing teams to define product support programs and publications that effectively communicate solutions and product information to the field.
  • Lead and maintain Power BI dashboards used to monitor product quality trends, project status, and issue management.
  • Analyze quality and warranty data to identify trends, prioritize issues, and support data-driven business decisions.
  • Present project status, quality trends, findings, risks, and recommendations to senior leaders and cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Participate in daily meetings, project reviews, phone calls, and cross-functional collaboration sessions with engineering and business teams.
  • Support analytics and AI development initiatives focused on improving product issue management, efficiency, and visibility.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects and priorities while maintaining focus on timelines, cost, quality, and customer outcomes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality processes, issue management, reporting, and cross-functional collaboration.

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical field and 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • OR Associate's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical field and 6+ years of relevant experience.
  • OR Master's degree in Engineering or an equivalent technical field and 2+ years of relevant experience.
  • Internship experience may be considered toward required experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, program leadership, product quality, engineering, data analytics, or a closely related technical field.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple projects or initiatives simultaneously.

  • Strong understanding of issue management and structured problem-solving methodologies.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineering, product support, manufacturing, customer-facing, and other cross-functional teams.

Desired Technical Skills

  • Experience working with product quality systems or quality management processes.
  • Experience with Continuous Product Improvement (CPI), DMAIC, or Six Sigma methodologies.
  • CPI Master or Master Black Belt certification.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification.
  • Experience with engine design or product development.
  • Experience with supplier relationship management.
  • Experience with technical validation activities, including DFMEA, DOE, or similar methodologies.
  • Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) programs.
  • Experience assessing product carry-over risk or field performance during new product development.
  • Experience supporting analytics, AI, or other technology initiatives focused on improving business processes.
