The posting

Primal designs and manufactures custom cycling apparel for clubs, teams, events, bike shops, and corporate partners. We’re looking for a driven, relationship-focused Account Executive to build lasting partnerships and expand our custom business.

The Role

We’re hiring an Account Executive to build strong customer relationships, win new custom apparel accounts, and grow existing business. This is a hunter role at its core — you'll be out in the field, at races, trade shows, and group rides, building genuine relationships with team captains, club presidents, event directors, and corporate buyers who need custom kits built right. You'll own the sales cycle up to the design process: prospecting, consulting on product and fit needs, quoting, closing, then nurturing those accounts into repeat, season-over-season partners.

This role is ideal for someone who's energized by travel, comfortable guiding a customer through products and pricing, and who sees selling as an extension of relationship-building rather than a transactional exercise.

What You'll Do

  • Drive new business — identify, prospect, and close new custom apparel accounts among cycling clubs, race teams, event organizers, bike shops, and corporate partners within your territory
  • Consult, don't just sell — understand a team or club's identity, budget, and timeline, and guide them through fabric, fit, and design options to land on a kit they're proud to wear
  • Build lasting relationships — become the go-to partner for team captains, club officers, and event directors; earn repeat business season after season, not just a one-time order
  • Own your territory — develop and execute a territory plan that balances new account acquisition with a growing base of recurring custom orders
  • Represent us in the field — travel approximately 40% of the time visiting current and potential clients or attending events and expos
  • Collaborate cross-functionally — work closely with account management team to keep custom orders accurate, on schedule, and aligned with customer expectations
  • Report and forecast — maintain accurate pipeline and order data and provide regular forecasts to sales leadership
  • Stay close to the sport — attend races, group rides, and cycling community events to build authentic relationships and spot new team and club opportunities

What You Bring

  • A genuine passion for cycling — you don't need to be a racer, but you should know the culture, the clubs, and the calendar of races and events
  • A proven track record of prospecting and closing new business, not just managing existing accounts
  • Comfort managing a consultative, multi-step sales process rather than a single-touch transaction
  • Strong relationship-building instincts; you build trust quickly and maintain it over time, especially with volunteer-run clubs and teams
  • Comfort with a travel-heavy schedule (~40%), including weekends for events, group rides, and trade shows
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills
  • Self-motivated and organized; able to manage a territory and a pipeline of custom orders independently while hitting targets
  • Proficiency with CRM tools (Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar)
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel domestically (and internationally, if applicable)

Nice to Have

  • Existing relationships with cycling clubs, race teams, event organizers, or bike shops
  • Experience selling custom or team-dealer apparel (cycling, running, triathlon, or similar endurance sports)

Primal is an equal opportunity employer. We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees.

Requirements

Requirements:

  • Exceptional relationship-building skills with a genuine enthusiasm for connecting with customers and prospects.
  • Confident and engaging communicator, both over the phone and in person.
  • Willing and able to travel regularly for customer meetings, industry events, trade shows, and other business-development opportunities.
  • Skilled at understanding customer needs, presenting solutions, and developing long-term partnerships.
  • Proactive about maintaining meaningful customer contact and identifying opportunities for growth.
  • Collaborative team member who communicates effectively and contributes positively within an in-office environment.
  • Organized, dependable, and comfortable balancing travel, customer engagement, follow-up, and internal coordination.
  • Able to work closely with Customer Account Specialists and other departments to create a seamless customer experience.

Benefits

  • Competitive base salary with uncapped commission potential
  • Annual Salary between $80,000 - $100,000
  • Company-paid travel and business expenses
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
  • Generous employee discount on Primal gear
  • Paid time off
  • A collaborative, active team that believes in—and uses—the products we sell

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
