Assistant Project Coordinator/Co-op Student (Special Projects)

Term: Starting January 2027

TERM: 4 Month Term Preferred

Maple Reinders Constructors is currently searching for its next batch of co-op students starting in January 2027. For this job specifically we are searching for students to join our Special Projects team within our Buildings division (ICI Construction) out of our Mississauga, Ontario head office.

As an Assistant Project Coordinator, you will have the opportunity to support our Project Managers & Superintendents in the delivery of our exciting Buildings (ICI) projects. The focus of your role will be to maintain contract documentation, support estimating and assisting with the preparation of budgets and schedules. We work on a variety of types of contracts such as Design Build, Plan and Spec and Construction Management and you would gain experience on all of these. Please note a vehicle will be required to visit project sites, as the locations are not easily accessible by public transit.

The purpose of the Assistant Project Coordinator is to support the project team who ensure that a profit is made on the project, that the work is performed as per the contract documents, that the project is completed with outstanding quality, and that the jobsite is a safe workplace.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Project Managers in the project tendering by developing estimates, preparing takeoffs, trade communication, and managing RFP documentation.
  • Draft proposals and outline specifications based on Requests for Pricing.
  • Update and maintain purchase order logs, shop drawing and submittal logs, and meeting minutes.
  • Gain an understanding of how to select suppliers and sub-trades and obtaining quotations.
  • Assisting with and/or clarifying scope of work with sub-trades and suppliers.
  • Ensuring there is a continuous focus on site safety in accordance with regulatory requirements as well as our Corporate Health and Safety Policy.
  • Attending site meetings and assisting in the completion of project deficiencies.
  • Tracking and keeping inventory of supplies to ensure they arrive on schedule and are tracked.

Qualifications:

  • A full-time student enrolled in a related post-secondary program of study (i.e. Architectural Technology, Construction Management or Civil Engineering)
  • Or be a new graduate from a related program of study who completed studies in 2026.
  • Experience with Microsoft Project and Microsoft Excel would be an asset
  • Valid drivers license and reliable transportation for site visits

Pay Range: $22 - $28 / hour (depending on previous co-op terms / experience)

Location: Office based role in Mississauga, Ontario with travel to sites.
