The posting

Printfresh is seeking an Assistant Designer to help bring our joyful, print-forward sleepwear collections to life.

This is a hands-on design role for someone with 1–3 years of professional experience who can translate seasonal direction into accurate CADs, technical sketches, colorways, print and embroidery layouts, tech packs, and well-resolved samples.

The ideal candidate has experience supporting the development of women’s apparel/sleepwear and understands how a product moves from initial concept through production. They are highly organized, technically capable, visually thoughtful, and eager to grow within a creative, fast-moving, and size-inclusive brand.

This is a full-time, in-house position, working out of our Philadelphia office M-F.

Responsibilities

Design and Product Development

  • Create and update sleepwear CADs, technical flats, construction sketches, and product mockups.
  • Translate creative direction into clear, accurate, and production-ready design information.
  • Develop colorways, print minibodies, print placements, and artwork mockups.
  • Assist with embroidery layouts, placement diagrams, scale options, and color callouts.
  • Prepare product visuals and presentations for seasonal reviews and milestone meetings.
  • Update designs as silhouettes, proportions, construction details, colors, and artwork evolve.

Sample Review and Execution

  • Participate in proto, fit, and sample reviews.
  • Review samples for alignment with the approved design, including proportion, color, print placement, embroidery, trims, and overall appearance.
  • Prepare clear design comments and update CADs, artwork, and technical information following reviews.
  • Track revisions, samples, approvals, and outstanding design decisions through completion.
  • Flag inconsistencies, missing information, and execution issues before they affect timelines.

Tech Packs and Design Organization

  • Create and maintain tech packs in partnership with Product Development and Technical Design.
  • Keep construction details, colorways, artwork placements, trims, and embroidery information accurate and current.
  • Maintain seasonal design files, physical working boards, line plans, and presentation decks.
  • Help ensure cross-functional partners are working from the most current design information.
  • Support preparation for design handoffs, line reviews, and seasonal presentations.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner closely with Print and CAD, Product Development, Technical Design, Production, and Merchandising.
  • Communicate proactively about missing information, outstanding decisions, and potential timeline risks.
  • Manage multiple styles and development stages while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Help keep seasonal development organized, clearly communicated, and on schedule.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of professional experience as an Assistant Designer, Design Assistant, or similar role within apparel, sleepwear, intimates, dresses, or women’s woven products.
  • Degree in Fashion Design or a related field preferred.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop.
  • Professional experience creating apparel CADs, technical flats, colorways, and artwork mockups.
  • Working knowledge of garment construction, fabrication, trims, and the apparel-development process.
  • Strong eye for color, print, scale, proportion, and detail.
  • Ability to interpret creative direction and translate feedback into accurate design updates.
  • Highly organized, proactive, collaborative, and comfortable managing multiple priorities.
  • Genuine interest in expressive, print-led, and size-inclusive design.
  • Portfolio demonstrating relevant apparel-design work required.

Especially Helpful

  • Experience creating or updating tech packs.
  • Experience participating in sample reviews and preparing design comments.
  • Exposure to embroidery development and artwork placement.
  • Familiarity with PLM or product-development systems.
  • Experience working with overseas vendors and cross-functional production teams.
  • Experience with sleepwear, women’s wovens, dresses, or novelty-detail products.

What Success Looks Like

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
