#QuantumSensing

Nomad Atomics is a leader in development of quantum sensors, developing and deploying field-ready quantum technologies to enable real-world applications. We believe the time for commercial quantum sensing has come, and we are determined to make it happen.

We are a high performing and ambitious team, driven by the desire to see our sensors used to solve the hardest sensing problems in some of the world’s largest industries. We are growing – FAST - and we are searching for people to join us on the journey of taking cutting edge technology to the market.

We work in areas of global significance including resource exploration and extraction, land and groundwater management, CO2 sequestration monitoring, underground infrastructure monitoring and navigation. We provide an end-to-end service to our clients that includes technology development, manufacture, sensor deployment, and comprehensive data collection and processing.

We are seeking a dynamic Business Development Manager who is excited by the opportunity to bring new technologies to market. In this pivotal role, you’ll help define our commercial strategy, build deep customer relationships, and translate our cutting-edge innovation into real-world impact, laying the foundations for Nomad Atomics’ long-term growth and success.

Why join us?

  • Play a key role in a fast-growing company at the forefront of quantum sensing and geophysics.
  • Work directly on real-world applications of cutting-edge technology, helping shape how it is used in industry.
  • Gain exposure to both technical and commercial aspects of the business, accelerating your development.
  • Be part of a collaborative, driven, and multidisciplinary team where your ideas and initiative are valued.
  • Build meaningful relationships with customers and partners across mining, infrastructure, and beyond.
  • Help bring advanced science out of the lab and into practical use, solving complex, real-world problems.

The role

As Business Development Manager, you’ll help drive the commercial success of our company. In this early-stage environment, you’ll wear many hats – business development, marketing, sales, partnerships – and help guide the company through the critical phase of product-market fit discovery, go-to-market execution, and early customer adoption.

You’ll be the bridge between our internal teams and the external market, working closely with our scientific, engineering, operations, and executive teams to identify and grow high-value opportunities across multiple industries.

Under the broad direction of the Head of Business Development your key responsibilities are:

Market discovery and strategic insights

  • Conduct targeted market research and environmental scanning to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and priority segments.
  • Support the mapping of market segments, customer landscapes, and stakeholder ecosystems to identify and prioritise high-potential opportunities.
  • Contribute to pricing, positioning, and market-entry strategies through structured analysis and on-the-ground insights.
  • Synthesize customer feedback, market intelligence, and internal learnings to inform business development priorities and planning.

Customer engagement and commercial validation

  • Engage directly with customers and prospects to understand operational challenges, validate use cases, and test value propositions.
  • Build and progress a pipeline of qualified opportunities, including pilots and early-stage projects to demonstrate capability and gather feedback.
  • Develop tailored proposals and commercial approaches aligned to customer needs and project context.
  • Collaborate with technical and product teams to translate customer requirements into clear inputs for development and delivery.
  • Capture and communicate field insights to continuously refine messaging, positioning, and product-market fit.

Sales, partnerships, and revenue generation

  • Own and progress sales opportunities from early engagement through to proposal and contract signing.
  • Execute outbound and account-based sales activities to generate and qualify leads across target segments.
  • Identify and support the development of strategic partnerships to expand market access and strengthen value propositions.
  • Maintain accurate pipeline data, track opportunity progress, and contribute to forecasting and reporting.
  • Support the transition from sale to delivery, ensuring clear handover and feedback loops into future opportunities.

Stakeholder engagement and external relations

  • Represent the company in customer meetings, industry events, conferences, and networking forums.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders across industry, including technical users, influencers, and decision-makers.
  • Contribute to increasing company visibility through participation in events, content, and industry engagement.
  • Support coordination with international teams and partners to align on opportunities and market approach.

Leadership and teamwork

  • Operate as a proactive and reliable member of the Business Development Team, contributing to team goals and culture.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with technical, product, and operations teams to ensure alignment between customer needs and delivery.
  • Support the development and improvement of business development processes, tools, and ways of working.
  • Contribute to funding, tender, and proposal efforts where relevant to strategic opportunities.
  • Demonstrate ownership of tasks and outcomes, balancing independent execution with strong team collaboration.

Who you are

  • Curious by nature, with a proactive approach to learning and understanding new industries, technologies, and customer challenges.
  • Able to translate technical concepts into clear, commercially relevant language for a range of audiences.
  • A confident communicator who can engage effectively with both technical experts and business decision-makers.
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity, using initiative and sound judgement to navigate evolving situations.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities and priorities at once
  • Resilient and adaptable, with the drive to deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently, while contributing positively to team collaboration and shared goals.

Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • Experience in business development, partnerships, or commercial roles, ideally within a technical or science-led environment.
  • Exposure to B2B sales and/or business development in industries such as mining, energy, infrastructure, or related sectors.
  • A track record of contributing to new opportunity development, including identifying leads and supporting early commercial traction.
  • Strong communication skills across written, verbal, and presentation formats.
  • Confidence engaging in external meetings and supporting commercial discussions, including proposals and partnership conversations.
  • Comfortable operating in a dynamic, evolving environment, with an understanding of how startups or growth-stage companies work.
  • Ability to develop clear, high-quality proposals, presentations, and customer-facing materials.
  • Experience in mining or resources is advantageous, with a background in geology, geophysics, or earth sciences highly regarded.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and employee share option package
  • Flexibility to work from home, but in-person interaction with our tech and geophysics team will be critical
  • Flexible work hours: choose which hours you work to meet your work and lifestyle goals
  • 18 weeks paid parental leave
  • Your favourite snacks and coffee in office
  • Career development allowance
  • Must have full Australian working rights

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
