The posting

About Us:

Vortexa was founded to solve the immense information gap that exists in the energy industry. By using massive amounts of new satellite data and pioneering work in artificial intelligence, Vortexa creates an unprecedented view of global seaborne energy flows in real-time, bringing transparency and efficiency to the energy markets.

With offices in London, New York, Houston, Singapore, Geneva and the UAE, we are building the definitive platform for energy and freight analytics globally - backed by leading investors including Morgan Stanley & Notion Capital.

The Role:

We are seeking a motivated and results-driven Business Development Representative (BDR) to join our BDR Pipeline Generation team, based in our Singapore office and focused on the APAC region. You will play a crucial role in driving the growth of our business, helping to generate new opportunities across our core APAC customer segments.

You’ll be responsible for identifying and engaging high-potential prospects across APAC — including Singapore and Southeast Asia (e.g. Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand and Vietnam), Japan, South Korea, Australia, India and Greater China — through both marketing-generated leads and proactive outbound efforts ensuring our Sales team is set up to succeed. You'll work closely with Sales, Marketing, and RevOps to drive pipeline generation through inbound lead discovery and qualification, proactive and energetic outbounding, and driving attendance at key APAC industry events.

It’s an ideal opportunity for someone eager to develop their SaaS career in a high-performing, global team, while learning about one of the world’s most impactful and complex industries.

In this role you will:

  • Drive qualified pipeline through personalised, multichannel outreach (email, LinkedIn, phone, event follow-up, and local channels such as WeChat, LINE and KakaoTalk where appropriate)
  • Conduct Discovery calls and qualify leads before handover to Sales, mapping the buying group and approval process (often consensus-driven in markets such as Japan and Korea)
  • Research and map high-potential accounts across APAC’s core segments — national oil companies and refiners, Japanese trading houses and utilities, Singapore-based trading firms, shipowners and brokers, bunkering, and banks and commodity funds
  • Collaborate with the Marketing team to promote and drive registrations for Vortexa-hosted and APAC industry events (e.g. Singapore International Energy Week, APPEC, Singapore Maritime Week, Asia Pacific Maritime, and LNG and freight conferences in Japan, Korea and Australia)
  • Collaborate with the RevOps, Sales, and Marketing teams to evolve scalable playbooks and processes
  • Ensure accurate tracking and maintenance of data within the BDR tech stack (Salesforce, Salesloft, Gong, Marketo etc.)
  • Run outreach in line with regional data-privacy and anti-spam rules (e.g. Singapore PDPA, China PIPL, Japan APPI, India DPDP Act, Australia Spam Act)
  • Maintain core working hours aligned to Singapore time, with flexibility to engage prospects across APAC time zones (from India to Japan and Australia), plus occasional regional travel for key events and customer meetings (10-20%)
  • Consistently meet or exceed quarterly targets for revenue contribution (e.g. qualified demos booked with AEs, pipeline created, and pipeline closed won)

Requirements

You will have:

  • At least 2 years of experience in a SaaS BDR, SDR, or commercial associate role
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling outreach and hold engaging conversations with senior stakeholders to engage prospects and nurture leads
  • Cultural fluency in APAC business norms, including relationship-led selling and hierarchy-aware engagement with senior stakeholders
  • Genuine interest in the energy, freight, or commodities space; (experience in the sector is a plus)
  • A proactive and curious attitude, with an eagerness to grow within a high-performing team
  • A proven track record of exceeding commercial OKRs
  • Experience with Salesforce, Salesloft, Gong, ZoomInfo, etc. or similar tools, plus the resourcefulness to research accounts manually where database coverage is thin (common in North and Southeast Asia)
  • Professional working proficiency English and additional local languages (bonus)
  • Sound judgement when engaging prospects in sanctions-sensitive or politically sensitive trade flows
  • The ability to work independently, take initiative, and meet deadlines

Great if you have:

  • A background in the energy industry (e.g. oil & gas trading, freight analytics, commodities, etc.) and are looking to pivot into a SaaS commercial career, we’d love to hear from you.
  • Prior exposure to APAC commercial, trading or maritime environments.

Benefits

  • Stock-options in a fast-growing, high-potential business
  • An open, collaborative, and supportive working culture built on merit, which celebrates creative thinking and “getting things done.”
  • The opportunity to work with AI-driven technology in a scale-up environment with commodity trading experts
  • Private Health Insurance offered via AXA
  • A flexible working policy- accommodating both remote & home working, with regular staff events
  • Global Volunteering Policy to help you ‘do good’ and feel better
  • Competitive base salary plus commission and a clear career path from BDR to Sales Manager

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
