The posting

LegalVision provides unlimited legal support to SMEs and in-house teams through our innovative fixed-fee membership model. Using custom-built technology, we deliver fast, high-quality legal advice with predictable pricing - creating better outcomes for clients and more rewarding careers for our lawyers.

With teams across Australia, the UK and New Zealand, we've been recognised as a 5 Star Employer of Choice, Top 25 Attraction Firm, and Law Firm of the Year. We're growing rapidly, and we're looking for talented lawyers who want to be part of something different.

The Opportunity

We're hiring a Senior Lawyer to join our Commercial (Consumer, Health and Tech) practice and work with some of Australia's most exciting businesses - from early-stage startups to established tech companies, healthcare providers and emerging industry leaders.

You'll take ownership of a diverse client portfolio, advising on complex commercial matters whilst supervising and mentoring junior lawyers. This role offers genuine autonomy, direct client relationships, and the opportunity to shape your own practice within a high-performing, supportive team.

If you're ambitious, commercially minded, and ready for more responsibility than a traditional senior associate role, this could be perfect for you.

Your Responsibilities

  • Building and owning client relationships: You'll be the primary point of contact for your clients, acting as their trusted business adviser. Beyond delivering excellent legal work, you'll proactively identify opportunities to add value and help their businesses grow.
  • Advising across diverse industries and practice areas: Your clients will span tech, healthcare, SaaS, fintech, healthtech, NDIS and other cutting edge and emerging sectors. You'll draft, review and negotiate commercial and IT contracts, advise on intellectual property, licensing and partnership arrangements, and provide guidance on regulatory compliance, privacy law and consumer law matters.
  • Developing your team: You'll work with your Practice Leader to manage, mentor and train junior lawyers and graduates, helping them develop their technical skills and commercial judgment. This is a unique opportunity to build management skills early on in your career.
  • Contributing to firm growth: Share your expertise through client articles, webinars and internal training. Help establish LegalVision as the go-to firm for innovative Australian businesses.

The Ideal Candidate

  • Solid commercial contracts experience: At least 4 years PQE in private practice or in-house, with demonstrated experience drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial agreements. Exposure to tech, healthcare, startups or emerging industries is highly valued.
  • Commercial acumen: You think beyond the legal issues to understand what clients are trying to achieve. You provide practical, business-focused advice that helps clients move forward.
  • Technical breadth: You're comfortable advising across commercial contracts, regulatory compliance, privacy and consumer law. You can navigate ambiguity and learn new areas quickly.
  • Leadership capability: You're ready to manage junior lawyers, own client relationships and take responsibility for complex matters. You're confident making decisions and providing clear direction.
  • Strong prioritisation skills: You manage competing demands effectively, focus on what matters most, and deliver quality work efficiently.
  • Client service mindset: You genuinely enjoy helping clients and take pride in delivering exceptional experiences. You're responsive, proactive and easy to work with.
  • Team player: You thrive in collaborative environments, learn from others, and contribute to a positive team culture.
  • Adaptability and growth mindset: You're comfortable with change, embrace new challenges, and continuously look for ways to improve.

Benefits

  • Clear progression pathways and genuine meritocracy. High performers advance quickly and are rewarded accordingly.
  • Exposure to cutting-edge industries, complex commercial matters, and regulatory challenges across tech, healthcare and emerging sectors.
  • Real opportunities to manage and mentor junior lawyers and build your leadership capabilities.
  • Additional 'LV Leave' days, paid birthday leave, volunteering leave, and parental leave.
  • Annual learning and development budget to spend on courses, conferences or training of your choice.
  • Work with talented, passionate people, and enjoy regular team socials, drinks and lunches.
  • Vibrant office environment in Surry Hills super close to Central Station, and flexible work-from-home options.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
