The posting

We are seeking an experienced Construction Estimator to prepare accurate and competitive bids for commercial interior construction projects. The ideal candidate has hands-on estimating experience with drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, commercial flooring, and related interior finish systems.

This role manages the estimating process from initial plan review through bid submission and project handoff. Responsibilities include quantity takeoffs, scope analysis, labor and material pricing, subcontractor bid evaluation, cost analysis, and proposal preparation. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, commercially minded, and capable of managing multiple bids and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related interior construction projects.
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and bid documents to determine project scope and pricing requirements.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
  • Develop accurate and competitive estimates based on project requirements, current market conditions, and historical cost data.
  • Solicit, evaluate, compare, and level bids from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, overlaps, constructability issues, and potential cost risks.
  • Prepare bid proposals with detailed pricing breakdowns, scope summaries, clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, and alternates.
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, general contractors, and clients to clarify scope and pricing.
  • Maintain organized estimating files, historical pricing data, vendor information, bid logs, and project documentation.
  • Monitor material costs, labor rates, subcontractor pricing, and market conditions to maintain estimate accuracy.
  • Support conceptual budgets, negotiated bids, change-order pricing, and estimate revisions.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, post-bid reviews, and scope discussions as required.
  • Provide detailed cost breakdowns, budgets, assumptions, and scope clarifications during project handoff.
  • Track multiple bids and ensure proposals are complete, accurate, and submitted on time.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating procedures, pricing strategies, and overall bid accuracy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial construction estimating experience.
  • Required: Hands-on estimating experience with drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, commercial flooring, or related interior finish trades.
  • Strong understanding of commercial interior construction methods, materials, sequencing, labor requirements, and cost structures.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and bid documents.
  • Proven experience with quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, budgeting, and commercial bid preparation.
  • Experience soliciting, evaluating, and leveling subcontractor and supplier proposals.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar estimating software.
  • Strong understanding of labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment pricing.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to identify scope discrepancies, pricing risks, and missing work.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Consistent pipeline of commercial interior construction projects.
  • Diverse projects involving drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and interior finishes.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
