We're seeking a finance leader who brings experience, sound judgment, and the ability to drive results independently. This role is ideal for someone who has successfully led the accounting and finance function within a construction, specialty trades, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, or other project-based organization and understands the unique financial dynamics that come with managing projects, labor, job costs, cash flow, and growth.

This position will serve as a strategic partner to leadership by proactively identifying operational inefficiencies, recommending improvements, and implementing processes that enhance profitability, scalability, and decision-making across the business.

What You'll Be Responsible For

  • Own the finance and accounting function, developing the processes, reporting, and controls needed to support continued growth.
  • Leading monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting.
  • Driving budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow planning initiatives.
  • Managing job costing, work-in-progress reporting, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
  • Establishing and improving accounting processes, internal controls, and reporting structures.
  • Providing financial insight and recommendations that support operational and strategic decision-making.
  • Partnering with department leaders to improve performance, profitability, and accountability.
  • Ensuring compliance with all financial, tax, and regulatory requirements.
  • Building scalable financial processes to support continued growth.
  • Leading, mentoring, and developing accounting team members.

Required Experience

  • Significant accounting and finance leadership experience.
  • Experience within a construction, HVAC, electrical, mechanical, facilities services, specialty contracting, or other project-based business environment.
  • Strong understanding of job costing, project accounting, WIP schedules, percentage-of-completion accounting, revenue recognition, and project profitability analysis.
  • Demonstrated success managing financial operations for a growing small-to-mid-sized organization.
  • Experience developing processes and improving financial visibility across the business.
  • Strong financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash management expertise.
  • Experience leading and developing accounting teams.

What Will Set Candidates Apart

  • Experience in construction and skilled trades organizations during periods of growth and operational expansion.
  • Quantifiable accomplishments and measurable business impact.
  • Examples of solving complex challenges with minimal supervision.
  • A track record of continuous improvement and professional growth.
  • Strong references who can speak to performance, reliability, and leadership.

For the right candidate, this is an opportunity to make a measurable impact within a company that values strong financial leadership and practical business insight.

Requirements

  • 7–15+ years progressive accounting experience
  • Experience in construction or trade industries strongly preferred

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
