You will hold key operational responsibilities, managing payroll, purchase and sales ledgers, and cash and bank administration with precision and efficiency. Additionally, you will serve as a central point of contact for internal and external stakeholders—including suppliers, banks, and payroll providers—to resolve queries and provide the critical financial support that enables MAG’s vital operations worldwide.

Responsibilities:

Statutory Accounts & Compliance

  • Banking, Payments & Tax: Authorise supplier payments, manage global programme fund transfers, and control quarterly VAT submissions.
  • Planning & Optimization: Support monthly management accounts and the HQ Annual Business Plan while driving continuous process and control improvements.

Treasury Management

  • Cash & FX Forecasting: Assist in producing periodic cash forecasts, working capital reports, and schedules for future currency trades.
  • Foreign Exchange Accounting: Manage the financial impact of FX fluctuations, including the regular revaluation of balance sheet accounts.
  • Liquidity & Investment: Monitor organizational cash balances to maximize short-term deposit income while maintaining required liquidity parameters.

Staff Management

  • Team Leadership & Planning: Plan, prioritize, and communicate workloads for the Corporate Finance team to ensure high-quality, timely delivery.
  • Talent Development: Manage, motivate, and mentor team members by identifying training needs and supporting professional growth.
  • Process Efficiency: Cultivate a continuous improvement mindset within the team to optimize daily operations and add value to MAG.

We’re looking for:

Professional Experience & Expertise

  • Charity Finance & Audit: Background in preparing Charity SORP statutory accounts, management accounts, and business plans, alongside direct experience managing external audits.
  • Systems, Currency & Tax: Expertise in complex, multi-currency transaction accounting, treasury cash flow management, and UK VAT legislation using advanced systems and Excel.
  • Team Leadership: A proven track record of managing, training, and motivating a part-qualified accounts team to consistently meet tight deadlines.

Core Capabilities & Attributes

  • Problem Solving & Controls: Strong technical accounting skills to design efficient financial workflows, solve complex issues, and implement robust internal controls.
  • Communication & Relationships: Ability to translate complex financial information clearly for non-finance staff and build strong professional relationships at all levels.
  • Proactive & Mission-Driven: A self-motivated, detail-oriented approach with the adaptability to work independently and a genuine commitment to MAG’s humanitarian mission.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
