About CORTO

We are CORTO, a cutting-edge software company dedicated to revolutionising the legal industry. Our mission is to empower legal practitioners with AI-driven solutions that streamline their workflow, boost productivity, and provide more efficient client service.

Our team of AI experts and engineers collaborate to develop intelligent software tailored to the unique needs of lawyers, paralegals, and legal assistants. Our innovative AI solutions automate routine tasks, simplify document management, and enhance decision-making, allowing legal professionals to focus on what they do best—providing expert legal counsel.

We’re rapidly scaling from 80 to 250+ employees, with a highly technical workforce where around 75% of the team are developers and engineers. Working alongside our Sydney-based team of passionate high achievers, you’ll join a fast-growing technology business where things rarely stay the same for long - and if you’re smart, caring, and ambitious, you’ll be in great company.

Meet the DevOps team

Acctivity is an AI-based legal practice productivity solution that helps law firms streamline their workflow, work more efficiently and save time. In DevOps, we build and run scalable infrastructure on AWS and support our development and QE teams, working closely with InfoSec to follow good security practice. It’s a small team, so your work is visible and what you build will be running in production.

What you’ll do

As a DevOps Engineer, you’ll build and deploy our AWS infrastructure as code, keep our platform monitored and reliable, and work hand in hand with developers, quality engineers and InfoSec. You’ll be part of a weekly on-call rotation, and you’ll get exposure to AI infrastructure on AWS as the product grows.

To make this happen you will

AWS infrastructure as code

  • Build and deploy AWS resources with CloudFormation, using our in-house deployment orchestrator for ECS services, Lambda functions, CloudFront distributions and custom pipelines.

AWS platform

  • Compute: ECS, Lambda, EC2.
  • Storage and delivery: S3, CloudFront, load balancers.
  • Networking and security: VPC, security groups, IAM, KMS, Secrets Manager.
  • Databases, as a supporting area: RDS Aurora PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, MemoryDB.

Monitoring and on-call

  • Use Datadog and CloudWatch for monitoring, alerting and logging, so problems are spotted early and fixed quickly.
  • Take part in the out-of-hours on-call roster on a weekly rotation.

Collaboration

  • Work with developers, quality engineers and InfoSec, and share what you learn with the team.
  • Troubleshoot application issues alongside the people who built them.
  • Work in the Atlassian suite (Jira, Bitbucket, Jira Service Management).

Room to grow

  • Get exposure to AI infrastructure on AWS, such as Bedrock and AgentCore.

What you’ll bring

Technical skills

  • Solid working knowledge of core AWS services (compute, storage, networking, IAM).
  • Infrastructure as code – CloudFormation is what we use.
  • Scripting in Python.
  • Git and pull request workflows.
  • Containers and Linux fundamentals.
  • Networking basics: VPCs, subnets, routing, DNS, security groups.
  • Troubleshooting from logs and metrics, and explaining what you found.
  • Clear communication, written and spoken.

Experience

  • 3+ years in a DevOps, platform, SRE, cloud or infrastructure role.
  • Hands-on experience running production workloads on AWS.
  • AWS certification is desirable, for example AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, AWS Certified CloudOps Engineer – Associate or AWS Certified DevOps Engineer – Professional.

Even better if you have

  • Experience with an observability platform such as Datadog.

You are the type of person who

  • Likes seeing their work run in production and owning it once it’s there
  • Digs into logs and metrics to find the real cause – then explains it clearly
  • Enjoys working alongside developers, QE and InfoSec rather than in a silo
  • Shares what they learn so the whole team gets better
  • Is curious about where AI infrastructure on AWS is heading

CORTO is an inclusive, people-first company committed to breaking down institutional barriers that keep people from reaching their potential. If you meet some, but not all the requirements above, we encourage you to still submit your application.

Why join CORTO?

  • Your work matters. We solve real world problems that improve and support local, everyday law firms. So they can do their best work for the people in the communities they serve.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
