Job Summary

We’re seeking a compassionate, hands-on Dining Room Supervisor to lead dining services within our Memory Care community. This role supervises a team of 10+ dining staff, coordinates employee schedules, supports daily dining operations, and works alongside the team on the floor to provide attentive, resident-centered service.

The ideal candidate brings experience in restaurant, hospitality, senior living, assisted living, or memory care dining services, along with strong team leadership and customer service skills. Professional experience working with older adults is strongly preferred, particularly candidates with memory care, dementia, or Alzheimer’s care experience or training.

This is a hands-on leadership position for someone who enjoys coaching and supporting a team while also interacting directly with residents. Experience as a Dining Services Supervisor, Dining Room Supervisor, Restaurant Supervisor, Dining Manager, Food Service Supervisor, FOH Supervisor, Lead Server, or Senior Living Dining Supervisor is highly valued.

Essential Duties and Job Responsibilities

  • Train dining room servers and hosts on proper etiquette, hospitality, and service standards.
  • Create work schedules, assign side-work (e.g., setting tables, vacuuming), and manage shift coverage.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, monitor grooming/uniform compliance, and address disciplinary issues when necessary.
  • Welcome new residents, assist with seating, and ensure the dining room atmosphere is warm and inviting.
  • Coordinate closely with healthcare and dietary teams to ensure meals adhere to prescribed diets, food allergies, and texture modifications (especially critical in memory care).
  • Track meal attendance and proactively alert Wellness/Concierge staff if a resident fails to show for a safety check.
  • Handle resident complaints tactfully and ensure their culinary preferences are met.
  • Plan daily table sections and service flow based on resident meal counts.
  • Supervise the pacing and execution of meal services and assist with tray delivery/room service for residents who eat in their apartments.
  • Monitor dining supplies (silverware, linens, condiments) and assist in putting away stock or light dishwashing as needed.
  • Ensure the dining room complies with state licensing, ADA, OSHA, and local health department regulations.
  • Supervise daily and weekly cleaning duties to maintain a spotless, hazard-free environment.
  • Ensure the dining room, service stations, and equipment strictly adhere to state health codes and community sanitation standards.
  • Monitor food temperatures and safe handling practices during service.
  • Manage cleaning schedules and side-work duties for the serving staff.
  • Dispose of food and waste in accordance with established policies.
  • Other duties assigned are appropriate to the position.

Requirements

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Requires 1-2 years of food service experience, with at least 6-12 months in a supervisory or management role.
  • Knowledge of high standards of food service sanitation and safety.
  • Requires maintaining high standards of personal hygiene while working, including frequent hand washing and securing hair away from the face.
  • Interpersonal skills are necessary to establish effective relationships with department workers and with other departments.
  • Skill and ability to learn to operate kitchen equipment.
  • Must possess an active CPR/BLS Certification and always maintain certification during employment.
  • Requires current Food Handlers card issued by local Health Department.
  • Be knowledgeable of dietary practices and procedures, as well as related laws, regulations and pertaining to hospital and ALF/IL/ALZ operations.
  • Friendly, attentive, and professional demeanor with residents and guests.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
