The posting

The Director of Business Operations is a senior leader responsible for translating Avint’s strategy into disciplined, scalable corporate operations. The Director leads the day-to-day business infrastructure that enables Delivery, Growth, Innovation, and Executive Leadership to operate effectively, with accountability for financial operations, human resources and recruiting operations, contracts and procurement, corporate compliance and quality, facilities and administrative operations, and enterprise business processes. As a member of the Avint Leadership Team, this role is expected to anticipate business needs, bring forward well-reasoned recommendations, establish clear operating standards and controls, and lead cross-functional initiatives from definition through measurable results. The Director serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO and leadership team and develops a high-performing Business Operations team capable of supporting Avint’s continued growth.

Requirements

Own and continuously mature Avint’s business operations model, translating executive priorities into clear processes, decision rights, controls, owners, timelines, and measurable outcomes.

• Lead financial operations in partnership with Avint leadership and external accounting resources, including budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow visibility, project cost accounting, indirect/overhead cost management, accounts payable and receivable oversight, payroll coordination, banking/line-of-credit support, and timely, accurate management reporting.

• Establish disciplined monthly and annual financial operating rhythms; identify variances, risks, and trends early and present actionable recommendations and business cases to Executive Leadership.

• Lead human resources and people operations, including benefits and compensation administration, policy implementation, employee lifecycle processes, performance-management infrastructure, compliance training, Career Manager support, and difficult employee matters in coordination with leadership and counsel as appropriate.

• Oversee recruiting operations and workforce planning so hiring priorities, candidate flow, onboarding, and resource needs are visible, timely, and aligned with Delivery and Growth requirements.

• Lead corporate contracting and procurement operations, including contract and subcontract administration, vendor management, purchasing, pricing support, proposal/business-volume support, redlines, negotiations within delegated authority, GSA/OASIS+ and other vehicle administration, and maintenance of contractual records and obligations.

• Serve as a corporate owner for quality and compliance programs, including CMMI and ISO activities, internal controls, audits, recurring quality reviews, metrics, corrective actions, risk/opportunity tracking, records retention, and continuous process improvement.

• Oversee corporate administrative operations, facilities, insurance, registrations, corporate tools/systems, and vendor relationships; identify opportunities to reduce friction, control overhead, and improve scalability.

• Lead cross-functional initiatives spanning Business Operations, Delivery, Growth, Innovation, Security, and Executive Leadership; proactively resolve issues at the appropriate level rather than relying on executive escalation for routine operational decisions.

• Develop and maintain executive dashboards and operating metrics providing accurate visibility into financial health, workforce, recruiting, contracts, compliance, operational risk, and key corporate initiatives.

• Serve as Career Manager and people leader for Business Operations staff; set clear expectations, delegate effectively, coach and develop team members, build depth in critical functions, and hold the team accountable for accurate, timely, high-quality results.

• Represent Avint professionally with employees, clients, partners, vendors, auditors, and prospective customers; support proposals, presentations, conferences, and other growth activities and proactively communicate Avint’s brand and core service offerings.

• Model Avint’s core values - Avid Integrity, Empower Excellence, and Your Vision Achieved - and strengthen a culture of ownership, responsiveness, collaboration, discretion, and continuous improvement.

Technical Areas of Expertise

• Corporate finance and operational accounting: budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, project cost accounting, cost/indirect-rate awareness, payroll, A/P, A/R, and management reporting

• Human resources and people operations: benefits, compensation, performance management, recruiting operations, employee relations, policy, and workforce planning

• Government contracting and corporate contracts: FAR/GSA environment, contract and subcontract administration, procurement, pricing support, negotiations, and vendor management

• Quality management and corporate compliance: CMMI, ISO 9001, audits, metrics, corrective actions, risk management, records, and process improvement

• Business systems, process design, operational analytics, dashboards, and scalable internal controls

• Cross-functional leadership, executive communications, change management, and team development

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, human resources, operations, or a related discipline; advanced degree preferred.

• 10+ years of progressively responsible experience across business operations or related corporate functions, with demonstrated leadership across multiple functional areas; government contracting experience strongly preferred.

• Demonstrated mastery of multiple operational disciplines and the ability to quickly command working knowledge of new areas of responsibility.

• Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary teams through complex work, leverage the expertise of others, and deliver exceptional-quality results with minimal executive direction.

• Strong financial and business acumen with demonstrated ability to interpret operating data, identify risk, develop recommendations, and support executive decision-making.

• Exceptional written and oral communication skills, including the ability to facilitate complex working sessions and present recommendations, business cases, and operational results to Executive Leadership and external stakeholders.

• Demonstrated experience developing people, setting performance expectations, building repeatable processes, and improving organizational maturity as a company scales.

• High degree of integrity, judgment, discretion, accountability, and attention to detail; must be comfortable owning sensitive financial, contractual, personnel, and corporate information.

• Relevant professional certification(s) expected; certifications such as PMP, SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP, CPA/CMA, CPCM, or comparable credentials are valued based on area of expertise.

• Demonstrated commitment to Avint’s core values and ability to serve as a visible brand ambassador and proactive contributor to business growth.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
