Located in Oxnard, California, AST operates out of cutting-edge facilities spanning over 250,000 sq. ft., including our newest expansion completed in 2024. AST employs approximately 185 skilled professionals across multi-shift operations, ensuring efficiency, precision, and timely delivery for mission-critical industries.

Position Overview

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Driver & Material Handler to support logistics and material movement between AST’s adjacent facilities. This role involves the daily operation of a 20-foot flatbed truck and forklifts to transport raw materials, tooling, and finished parts between buildings. The position will also assist with loading, unloading, and general warehouse organization.

Candidates must possess a valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL). A HazMat endorsement is strongly preferred; however, for the right candidate, AST may be willing to cover the cost of obtaining the required HazMat endorsement.

The ideal candidate is dependable, familiar with safe handling practices, and experienced with both commercial vehicle and forklift operation in a manufacturing or warehouse setting.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

• Operate a company truck to transport materials, parts, equipment, and tools between nearby AST facilities.

• Load, unload, and secure items on the 20-foot flatbed truck using appropriate strapping and handling methods.

· Safely operate forklifts ranging from 3,500 to 35,000 lbs. in capacity to move goods around the yard and inside the facilities.

· Assist with daily shipping and receiving tasks, material staging, and internal deliveries across departments.

· Relocate and organize raw materials, in-process parts, and finished goods in designated storage areas.

· Maintain cleanliness and order in warehouse and yard areas and assist with general material-handling and organization tasks.

· Perform daily vehicle and forklift inspections and report any mechanical or safety issues.

· Follow all company safety protocols, driving guidelines, and material-handling procedures.

· Communicate effectively with warehouse, production, and logistics teams to support efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.

• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) required.

• HazMat endorsement strongly preferred. For the right candidate, AST may be willing to cover the cost of obtaining the endorsement.

• Clean driving record preferred.

• Forklift certification and at least one year of forklift operation experience in a warehouse or manufacturing setting.

• Prior experience operating a flatbed truck or commercial vehicle preferred.

• Strong understanding of safe loading, strapping, and material-transport practices.

• Ability to lift and maneuver items weighing up to 75 lbs. with or without assistance.

• Strong communication, reliability, and time-management skills.

• Basic knowledge of warehouse systems or the ability to use inventory logs and tools is a plus.

• Willingness to work outdoors as needed when moving materials between buildings.

Hours & Schedule

  • Schedule: Monday – Friday (8-hour shift)
  • Expected Hours: 40 hours per week (plus overtime as needed)
