Our client is an established Australian online retailer and wholesaler operating in the home and garden sector. They deliver quality products to customers across the country through digital platforms. As a fast-moving business, they value initiative, accurate data management, and the practical application of modern digital tools.

They are now seeking to hire an Ecommerce Admin Support Assistant to ensure their online stores remain accurate, well-optimised, and performing at their best. This role balances day-to-day catalogue management with ongoing search engine optimisation to drive customer discovery and organic growth.

Job Responsibilities

Ecommerce & Catalogue Management

  • Manage and update product listings across Shopify and BigCommerce platforms including pricing, descriptions, and categories
  • Edit, crop, resize, and remove backgrounds from product images to ensure web optimisation
  • Upload and organise product images and digital assets across store channels
  • Identify and resolve data inconsistencies, broken listings, or platform errors

Data Administration & Operations

  • Perform routine data entry and clean spreadsheets, product information, and customer databases
  • Remove duplicate entries, standardise formatting, and correct data errors efficiently
  • Provide general ecommerce administrative support as business priorities shift

SEO & Content Optimisation

  • Write and optimise product titles, meta descriptions, and image alt text to boost search engine visibility
  • Conduct basic keyword research to support category pages and product content
  • Monitor organic search metrics via Google Search Console and Google Analytics while flagging traffic fluctuations
  • Assist with basic backlink building and outreach initiatives including directory listings, partner links, and guest content
  • Review competitor store pages to identify opportunities for visual and text improvements
  • Maintain clean internal link structures, URL pathways, and category organisation

Process Improvement & AI Integration

  • Leverage AI tools such as ChatGPT and Claude to streamline repetitive administrative tasks and SEO workflows
  • Learn new tools and software independently to improve speed and output quality

Requirements

  • 2 to 4 years of experience in an ecommerce admin, virtual assistant, or operations support role
  • Prior background working within the ecommerce, retail, or wholesale sector
  • Hands-on experience working with Shopify or BigCommerce
  • Working knowledge of on-page SEO fundamentals including keyword placement, meta tags, and internal links
  • Proficiency using Google Search Console and Google Analytics to monitor site performance
  • Strong capabilities in Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets for data entry, cleaning, and formatting
  • Practical experience editing product photos using tools like Photoshop, Canva, or Photoroom
  • Familiarity with AI platforms such as ChatGPT or Claude for workflow efficiency

Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Direct experience managing both Shopify and BigCommerce platforms simultaneously
  • Basic experience with specialised SEO tools such as SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Ubersuggest
  • Exposure to outreach tasks including supplier links, directory submissions, or guest posts
  • Formal SEO certifications from recognised institutions like Google, HubSpot, or SEMrush Academy
