The posting

We are seeking a mid- to senior-level Electrical Design Engineer with strong commercial building design experience to join an established MEP engineering team in Fort Lauderdale. The ideal candidate has hands-on experience designing electrical systems for high-rise buildings and complex commercial facilities, along with advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD.

This role involves developing electrical designs and construction documents while coordinating with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver accurate, efficient, and code-compliant building systems from initial design through construction documentation.

Projects may include high-rise office buildings, condominiums, hotels, municipal facilities, industrial buildings, airports, and other complex structures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design electrical systems for high-rise commercial buildings, condominiums, hotels, and other complex facilities.
  • Develop electrical construction documents, drawings, layouts, details, and specifications using Revit and AutoCAD.
  • Perform electrical calculations, determine load requirements, select equipment, and develop system layouts.
  • Apply applicable electrical codes, standards, and engineering practices throughout the design process.
  • Review architectural, structural, and MEP drawings to identify conflicts and ensure coordinated construction documents.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, plumbing, fire protection, and other engineering disciplines on multidisciplinary projects.
  • Review drawings and project documentation for accuracy, constructability, and consistency before issuance.
  • Assist with construction-phase questions, technical coordination, and design-related issues.
  • Manage assigned electrical design deliverables and contribute to project execution from design through construction documentation.
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve technical issues and maintain project schedules.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of electrical engineering or building design experience, preferably within an MEP consulting environment.
  • Proven experience designing electrical systems for high-rise buildings or complex commercial projects.
  • Advanced proficiency in Revit and AutoCAD required.
  • Experience with commercial projects such as offices, condominiums, hotels, airports, industrial facilities, municipal buildings, or similar structures.
  • Strong understanding of electrical building systems, applicable codes, and engineering design practices.
  • Ability to interpret and coordinate architectural, structural, electrical, and other MEP construction documents.
  • Demonstrated hands-on electrical design and construction documentation experience.
  • Strong communication, organizational, coordination, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strongly preferred: Local South Florida MEP consulting experience.

Important: Residential-only electrical design experience will not meet the requirements for this position.

Benefits

Compensation: Competitive salary based on experience.

Benefits may include health insurance, retirement plan options, paid time off, and other company-sponsored programs.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
