JOIN OUR TEAM

Northwest Ambulance is seeking an EMT Educator to help shape the next generation of EMS professionals. In this role, you will deliver hands-on classroom and field training, welcome and prepare new hires for success, and ensure our training programs remain current, effective, and aligned with industry best practices.

As a leading provider of Critical Care, ALS, and BLS transportation services throughout Washington, Northwest Ambulance knows that our people are the foundation of exceptional patient care. That's why we're committed to investing in the development of our crews and the educators who train them. If you're passionate about teaching, thrive in a fast-paced environment, and want to make a lasting impact on both employees and patients, we'd love to hear from you.

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced EMT who loves teaching to become our EMT Educator. This role owns the full EMT education pathway at Northwest Ambulance, from a new hire's first day of orientation through independent field practice and ongoing competency.

What You'll Do

  • Lead EMT onboarding. Deliver the EMT portions of new employee orientation, including classroom, skills, equipment, documentation, and safety content, and prepare new hires for field training.
  • Strengthen our Field Training program. Help select and develop EMT FTOs and preceptors, and maintain standardized evaluation tools so every trainee is measured against the same objective expectations.
  • Teach and validate clinical skills. Run hands-on skills stations and realistic scenarios covering patient assessment, airway, BLS resuscitation, patient movement, infection prevention, and ambulance equipment.
  • Turn data into training. Partner with QA/QM to spot recurring clinical, documentation, or safety trends and build focused education around them.
  • Coach and remediate. Provide non-punitive, Just Culture–based coaching and build remediation plans when performance gaps are identified.
  • Roll out change. Translate new policies, protocols, and equipment into practical training, job aids, and competency sheets that field crews can actually use.
  • Keep education on track. Maintain an annual education calendar, track completions and trends, and keep training records accurate.

Requirements

  • Current Washington State EMT certification in good standing
  • 2+ years of recent EMS field experience preferred (strong EMTs with demonstrated teaching ability will be considered)
  • Demonstrated competence in BLS patient care, ambulance operations, documentation, and safety
  • Ability to teach adults, give direct and respectful feedback, and evaluate competency objectively
  • Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
  • Calm, professional presence in a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment
  • Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and perform the full range of motion required in field and training settings

Preferred

  • Instructor credentials such as BLS Instructor, WA State EMS Evaluator, or EVIP/EVOC Instructor (or willingness to obtain them)
  • Experience with ESO or similar ePCR documentation systems

  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal/customer-service skills

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
