About School of Coding & AI

School of Coding & AI is one of the UK's fastest growing education providers, delivering high quality, career focused programmes across Coding, AI, STEM, Health and Social Care, Business and related areas.

Established in 2017, we work with schools, colleges, universities and employers to provide education that leads to real outcomes. Our focus is simple, student first, always.

We deliver Higher Education programmes in partnership with the University of Wolverhampton, Harper Adams University and the University of Brighton. As we expand our provision across the UK and internationally, we are strengthening our academic teams to deliver high-quality teaching, support excellent student outcomes and help shape the future of technology-focused education.

About the role

This is not a standalone English teaching post. We deliver partner university degree programmes in Business Management, Health and Social Care, and Computing and IT. Many of our learners are international adults, while they are capable, some need additional support with academic English, study skills, and confidence in communication to reach the standard required to pass assessments and graduate.

You will provide structured academic English and study skills support across programmes, with a strong focus on improving written work, comprehension of learning materials, and spoken communication in tutorials and presentations. You will work closely with teaching teams to target support where it has the biggest impact on progression and outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

Academic English & Study Skills Support:

  • Teaching large group sessions focused on academic writing, reading comprehension, vocabulary, and spoken communication.
  • Run practical workshops on topics such as structuring assignments, paragraphing, clarity, critical reading, paraphrasing, and referencing.
  • Help students understand assessment briefs, marking criteria, and feedback so they can improve future submissions.

Assessment Support, Marking & Feedback:

  • Review written drafts for clarity, structure, academic tone, grammar, and coherence, while maintaining academic integrity.
  • Provide clear, developmental feedback that students can apply independently, without rewriting work for them.
  • Support marking and moderation activities where required, in line with internal processes and partner university expectations.

Academic Integrity & Student Progression:

  • Coach students on plagiarism avoidance, paraphrasing skills, and appropriate use of sources and referencing.
  • Identify learners at risk due to language barriers and put support plans in place with programme teams.
  • Track engagement and progress, maintain accurate records, and contribute to progression reporting.

Collaboration & Quality:

  • Work with module leaders and programme teams to align expectations for writing quality and improve consistency of feedback.
  • Contribute to quality assurance activities and continuous improvement of learning support resources.
  • Signpost students to wider support where needed, including wellbeing or pastoral support routes.

Requirements

About You

You are confident in supporting international adult learners, and you know how to raise academic standards without patronising students or doing the work for them. You can be direct and supportive at the same time, and you understand what "good" looks like in a UK education setting.

Essential:

  • CELTA and a Degree in English Language or similar qualification.
  • Experience supporting academic writing, EAP, ESOL, or teaching/lecturing HE (or equivalent)
  • Strong understanding of written academic English, including structure, clarity, tone and grammar.
  • Confidence delivering effective classes to large groups while keeping learners engaged.
  • Ability to provide feedback aligned to assessment criteria and learning outcomes.
  • Strong organisation, record keeping, and ability to manage competing priorities in a busy environment.

Desirable

  • Experience supporting international students on UK higher education programmes.
  • DELTA, PGCE, or other relevant teaching or training qualification.
  • Experience with referencing conventions (for example Harvard) and academic integrity education.
  • Experience collaborating with teaching staff to improve progression and resubmission rates .

What Success Looks Like

  • Students show measurable improvement in writing clarity, structure, and comprehension.
  • Fewer avoidable resubmissions linked to language and academic skills gaps.
  • Higher confidence in spoken communication during presentations, and group work.
  • Strong engagement with support sessions, and clear evidence of impact through tracing and feedback.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
