Job Title: ESOL-Workforce Development Instructor- CNA

The salary for this position is: $38.00 - $39.00 per hour.

Summary: The International Center provides educational programming for newly arrived immigrants and refugees with the goal of improving learners’ English proficiency and communication skills. Working in the Bridge to Healthcare Program, the incumbent will develop, design, and deliver thoughtful and effective contextualized ESOL for healthcare classes for learners at our main Center. Upon completion of the ESOL classes, participants would be prepared and eligible to enroll in a Certified Nursing Assistant training course to prepare for the Certified Nursing Assistant competency evaluation.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

· Curriculum Development and Instruction: In coordination with the Director of Programs, design and deliver a six-month contextualized healthcare and ESOL course focused on the English needed to work as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Create thorough and well-developed class curricula focusing on healthcare content and communicative competence for caregivers. In line with the current pedagogy, content will be meaningful and relevant to students’ self-sufficiency outside the classroom. Connect with training school staff to ensure that ESOL materials and curricula are aligned to the content and level of proficiency required for the CNA training and competency exam.

· Manage and Support Students: Hold weekly office hours for students to ensure they are working toward their identified goals. Work with other Center staff and additional CCCS services to address student needs outside the classroom. Conduct participant intake, assess language proficiency, and identify goals. Provide ongoing support to promote learning, engagement, and retention. Work one-on-one with participants as needed. Track and enter student data, attendance, and case notes into internal databases.

· Training and Staff Development: Actively participate in professional development, designated meetings, and special events, as appropriate and requested.

· Monitoring and evaluation: Track and analyze attendance, learner feedback, class surveys/needs assessments, qualitative narrative evaluation, and assist with reporting for funders.

· Additional Support: Provide general administrative and program support for the Center including assisting with student registration, pre- and post-testing students using BEST Plus, assisting with class scheduling, and maintaining student portfolios and files. Substitute as an instructor as needed.

Requirements

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:

This is a part-time position, and work hours are generally Monday through Thursday from 5 to 9:30pm. Weekend hours may be required to meet student needs.

· Remain stationary and/or ambulate for the duration of instruction and presentations, addressing and/or monitoring students.

Qualifications:

Education and/or experience required:

· Bachelor's degree in education, ESOL or related field; Masters preferred

· Experience working with multi-level adult ESOL learners in various contexts, including community-based programs, and familiarity with an array of pedagogical approaches to second language acquisition.

· Experience and facility with digital instruction including digital skills, familiarity with remote and hybrid learning platforms, and knowledge of online resources.

· Experience with BEST Plus 3.0 preferred.

· Previous experience working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds.

· Experience with community outreach a plus.

Skills, Licenses, and/or competencies required:

· Ability to work and communicate effectively and sensitively in a multicultural environment.

· Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, SharePoint, etc.), Google Drive Suite, WhatsApp, and Zoom; ability to learn new platforms and databases as needed.

· Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.

· Strong time management skills and ability to meet deadlines and goals.
