The posting

We are seeking an experienced Commercial Estimator with expertise in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and commercial interior construction. This role is responsible for managing the estimating process from initial bid invitations through proposal submission and project handoff.

The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of commercial interior construction and can independently handle quantity takeoffs, scope reviews, subcontractor and vendor pricing, bid comparisons, cost analysis, and proposal preparation. This is a hands-on role for a detail-oriented professional who can manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate, detailed estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related interior construction scopes.
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, addenda, contracts, and bid documents to establish project requirements and scope.
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted work.
  • Identify scope gaps, design conflicts, exclusions, and potential cost risks.
  • Solicit, review, compare, and level subcontractor and vendor proposals.
  • Calculate material, labor, subcontractor, and overall project costs.
  • Prepare comprehensive bid proposals, including scope summaries, clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, alternates, and pricing.
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, and clients to clarify scope and pricing.
  • Maintain historical pricing records, estimating databases, bid logs, vendor information, and project documentation.
  • Assist with conceptual budgets, negotiated bids, change-order pricing, and estimate revisions.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, site visits, post-bid reviews, and scope discussions.
  • Provide detailed estimates and scope breakdowns during project handoff to the operations team.
  • Track multiple active bids and ensure proposals are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating procedures, pricing accuracy, and internal workflows.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial estimating experience in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior construction.
  • Direct experience estimating commercial interior construction projects is required.
  • Strong knowledge of drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and commercial interior construction methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and bid documents.
  • Proven experience performing detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing complete commercial bids.
  • Experience obtaining, analyzing, and leveling subcontractor and supplier pricing.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar estimating software.
  • Strong understanding of labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple bids, competing priorities, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Degree or formal education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings plan with company contribution.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • Consistent pipeline of commercial interior construction projects.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse drywall, metal framing, and interior construction projects.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
