The posting

We’re looking for an experienced Commercial Estimator with a background in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and commercial interior construction. This role involves managing bids from initial review through proposal submission and project handoff. The ideal candidate can independently perform takeoffs, evaluate subcontractor pricing, analyze project costs, and prepare accurate, competitive bids while managing multiple deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop detailed cost estimates for commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and other interior construction scopes.
  • Review architectural plans, specifications, contract documents, addenda, and bid packages to establish project requirements and define the scope of work.
  • Perform comprehensive quantity takeoffs covering materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracted services.
  • Identify missing scope items, design discrepancies, exclusions, and potential budget risks before bid submission.
  • Request and evaluate subcontractor and supplier quotes, compare proposals, and perform bid leveling to verify pricing and scope coverage.
  • Calculate material quantities, labor costs, subcontractor expenses, equipment costs, and total project pricing.
  • Prepare complete bid proposals outlining scope details, pricing, assumptions, exclusions, clarifications, and alternate options.
  • Evaluate value-engineering opportunities and recommend practical alternatives that reduce costs without compromising quality or project requirements.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, field personnel, suppliers, subcontractors, general contractors, and clients to resolve scope questions and confirm pricing.
  • Maintain estimating databases, historical cost information, bid tracking logs, vendor records, and supporting project documentation.
  • Assist with preliminary budgets, negotiated proposals, change-order estimates, and revisions to existing bids.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings, conduct site visits, participate in post-bid reviews, and discuss project scope with relevant stakeholders.
  • Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and scope documentation to support the transition of awarded projects to the operations team.
  • Track multiple bids simultaneously and ensure estimates are complete, accurate, and submitted within established deadlines.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline estimating processes, improve cost forecasting, and strengthen pricing accuracy.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of commercial estimating experience in drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior construction trades.
  • Direct experience estimating commercial interior construction projects is required.
  • Strong knowledge of drywall installation, metal stud framing, acoustical ceiling systems, flooring, and commercial interior construction practices.
  • Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and other construction bid documents.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting detailed quantity takeoffs and preparing comprehensive commercial estimates.
  • Experience soliciting subcontractor and supplier bids, evaluating proposals, comparing pricing, and identifying scope discrepancies.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or comparable estimating and takeoff software.
  • Strong understanding of construction labor rates, material pricing, subcontractor costs, and equipment expenses.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple bids, manage competing deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Degree or formal education in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Retirement savings plan with company contribution.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • Steady pipeline of commercial interior construction projects.
  • Opportunity to work on diverse drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceiling, and flooring projects.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
