The posting

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive bids for commercial interior construction projects. The ideal candidate has direct estimating experience with drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, commercial flooring, and related interior finish systems.

This role manages the estimating process from initial bid review through proposal submission and project handoff, including quantity takeoffs, cost analysis, subcontractor pricing, and bid preparation. The successful candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, and capable of managing multiple bids and deadlines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed cost estimates for commercial interior construction projects involving drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, and related finishes.
  • Review architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and bid documents to determine project scope.
  • Perform quantity takeoffs and calculate labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs.
  • Solicit, evaluate, compare, and level bids from subcontractors, suppliers, and vendors.
  • Identify scope gaps, exclusions, overlaps, constructability concerns, and potential cost risks.
  • Develop competitive pricing based on project requirements, market conditions, and historical cost data.
  • Prepare bid proposals with detailed pricing breakdowns, scope summaries, clarifications, exclusions, assumptions, and alternates.
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities and recommend cost-effective alternatives.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, field teams, subcontractors, suppliers, general contractors, and clients to clarify project requirements.
  • Maintain estimating databases, historical pricing, vendor information, bid logs, and supporting documentation.
  • Monitor labor rates, material costs, subcontractor pricing, and market trends to improve estimating accuracy.
  • Prepare conceptual budgets, negotiated bids, change-order estimates, and revised proposals as needed.
  • Provide detailed cost breakdowns, budgets, assumptions, and scope information during project handoff.
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings, jobsite visits, post-bid reviews, and scope discussions.
  • Track multiple bids and ensure proposals are accurate, complete, and submitted on time.
  • Identify opportunities to improve estimating procedures, pricing strategies, and overall efficiency.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of estimating experience in commercial interior construction.
  • Required: Direct experience estimating commercial drywall, metal framing, acoustical ceilings, flooring, or related interior finish projects.
  • Strong understanding of commercial interior construction methods, materials, sequencing, and cost structures.
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, contracts, addenda, and bid documents.
  • Proven experience performing quantity takeoffs and preparing detailed commercial bid proposals.
  • Experience evaluating and leveling subcontractor and supplier bids.
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam, On-Screen Takeoff, PlanSwift, or similar estimating and takeoff software.
  • Strong understanding of labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs.
  • Excellent analytical, mathematical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple estimates and deadlines.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Paid time off and company holidays.
  • Professional development and career advancement opportunities.
  • Stable pipeline of commercial interior construction projects.
  • Exposure to a variety of commercial drywall, framing, ceiling, flooring, and interior finish projects.
  • Collaborative, team-oriented work environment.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
