The posting

About the role

Pulse Trading Cards creates collectible trading card products. We’re looking for someone exceptional with Excel who enjoys organizing complex data, automating calculations, and making sure every quantity reconciles.

You’ll turn our product plans, player lists, and autograph inventory into detailed set configurations and production-ready pack-out plans. Your work will determine how available cards and autographs are allocated across sets, serial-numbered versions, packs, boxes, and cases.

This is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a senior management position. Trading-card experience is not required. Advanced Excel and workbook automation skills are. We’ll teach you the product terminology and provide the creative direction and product requirements.

What you’ll do

Build and automate configuration workbooks

  • Build and maintain Excel workbooks that connect player lists, available autograph inventory, and product configuration requirements.
  • Create reusable templates that reduce manual entry and update reliably when inputs change.
  • Use formulas, Power Query, and other appropriate Excel automation tools to clean, combine, validate, and organize data.
  • Make workbooks easy for teammates to use, with clear inputs, outputs, instructions, and error checks.

Turn product requirements into detailed set builds

  • Work from an approved product outline to calculate player counts, card quantities, and serial-numbering options.
  • Assign players and available autographs to sets and variations within the product’s requirements and inventory limits.
  • Model different configurations to show how changes affect inventory usage, production quantities, and pack-out feasibility.
  • Flag shortages, unused inventory, duplicate allocations, and configurations that do not reconcile.
  • Update builds as inventory availability or product requirements change.

Plan pack-outs and collation

  • Build allocation plans showing how cards and autographs should be distributed into packs, boxes, and cases.
  • Translate product guarantees into clear quantity calculations and distribution rules.
  • Account for different card types, rarity levels, player variety, and repeat limits where specified.
  • Verify that the full production run can be packed as planned using the available inventory.
  • Produce clear worksheets and instructions that production partners can follow.

Keep the numbers accurate

  • Reconcile inventory allocated, inventory remaining, total cards produced, and total packs, boxes, and cases.
  • Build checks that catch errors before files reach production.
  • Maintain organized versions and document changes to configurations.
  • Work with our product and operations teams to resolve discrepancies and keep builds moving.

What you bring

  • Excellent Excel skills and experience building workbooks that other people rely on.
  • Strong command of advanced formulas, lookups, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, structured tables, data validation, and error checks.
  • Experience automating repeatable work in Excel using tools such as Power Query, dynamic arrays, VBA, or Office Scripts. You don’t need every tool, but you should know how to choose and use an effective approach.
  • Strong numerical reasoning and the ability to work through allocation problems with multiple constraints.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a habit of checking that totals reconcile.
  • The ability to turn an operational requirement into a clear, reliable spreadsheet process.
  • Clear communication and comfort asking questions when requirements are incomplete.

Relevant experience could come from inventory planning, manufacturing, logistics, operations, data analysis, or other spreadsheet-intensive work. We’re open to early-career candidates who can demonstrate outstanding Excel skills.

No prior trading-card knowledge or people-management experience is required.

What success looks like

  • Accurate configurations that use available inventory and meet approved product requirements.
  • Workbooks that update efficiently when player lists, inventory, or production quantities change.
  • Clear pack-out plans with quantities that reconcile from individual cards through the full production run.
  • Less manual work and fewer errors reaching production.

Requirements

Requirements

• Excellent Excel skills, with experience building accurate, organized workbooks that other people can use and maintain. • Strong command of advanced formulas, including XLOOKUP or INDEX/MATCH, SUMIFS/COUNTIFS, dynamic arrays, structured tables, and data validation. • Demonstrated ability to automate repetitive work in Excel using Power Query, VBA, Office Scripts, or a combination of tools. • Ability to combine multiple spreadsheets, clean inconsistent data, and connect inventory records to product configuration models. • Strong numerical reasoning and comfort allocating limited inventory across multiple sets, card variations, packs, boxes, and cases. • Ability to build calculations and checks that flag shortages, duplicate allocations, mismatched totals, and unmet product requirements. • Exceptional attention to detail, clear documentation, and organized version control. • Ability to translate operational requirements into reliable workbook logic and clear production instructions. • Comfortable working independently in a remote environment and collaborating with a team operating primarily on Eastern Time.

Trading-card knowledge is not required—we’ll teach you the product terminology and requirements. Early-career candidates with outstanding Excel and automation skills are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should be prepared to discuss a workbook or automation they built and demonstrate their skills through a practical Excel exercise.

Benefits

Benefits

• Remote work with a collaborative team operating primarily on Eastern Time. • Direct collaboration with company leadership and our product and operations teams. • Ownership of practical tools and workbooks that directly support real product releases. • The opportunity to build your skills in Excel automation, inventory planning, and production configuration. • Hands-on training in trading-card set configurations and pack-out processes. • Meaningful input into how we improve workflows, reduce manual work, and prevent production errors.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
