ABOUT FATHOM ROBOTICS

Fathom Robotics provides operations, maintenance, training, and applied engineering services for uncrewed maritime systems supporting U.S. Government and commercial defense programs. We have multiple active projects across a variety of government and commercial clients and are actively fielding systems in operational environments.

ROLE OVERVIEW

Fathom is building a fleet health and status dashboard for small uncrewed surface vessels, pulling data from a wide range of manufacturers with inconsistent formats and no shared standard. This is early-stage, fast-moving work: you'll get something real in front of end users quickly, learn what they actually need, and adjust from there.

As our Federal Power Platform Developer, you'll own that build. You'll also develop the Power Apps side of the work: field data capture that holds up when there's no signal, since maintainers working pierside won't always have a live connection. This is deliberately a low-code, fast-iteration role.

LOCATION: Based in the Ventura/Oxnard, CA area, with travel to San Diego approximately twice a month

WORK TYPE: Full-Time

CLEARANCE: U.S. Person status required (GCC High access restriction); eligible for or able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance

PROGRAM CONDITIONS

This role is tied to a pending government contract award. We're moving through interviews now, ahead of that award, so we're ready to move fast the moment it's confirmed, which may mean an offer contingent on award before the contract is finalized. We'll be direct with you at every stage about where things stand so you can make an informed decision, including if that means holding off on giving notice at a current job until award is certain.

You'll join a small, close-knit technical team working in rapid, iterative cycles directly with real end users, not a large program layered with process overhead. This is a long-term effort, not a short-term engagement, with genuine room to grow into technical leadership or program management as the work matures. This role is based in the Ventura/Oxnard, CA area, with travel to San Diego approximately twice a month.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and iterate Power BI dashboards for USV fleet status and readiness, working directly with Fleet Maintainer feedback in short, rapid cycles.
  • Build maintenance tracking and status reporting functionality that keeps Fleet Maintainers informed and documents completed work.
  • Ingest and normalize data from a wide range of OEM sources and formats using Power Query, including building custom connectors or REST API integrations where a standard connector doesn't exist.
  • Configure external sharing so OEM manufacturers can work directly with relevant dashboard data, using Microsoft Entra B2B guest access or Power BI Embedded as appropriate.
  • Develop Power Apps functionality for pierside/tablet field data capture: real offline data entry with sync-on-reconnect, built on Dataverse, which reliable offline sync actually requires, going well beyond mobile-responsive design alone.
  • Operate specifically within Microsoft 365 GCC High compliance boundaries, since feature availability differs from general commercial or GCC environments.
  • Document data models and requirements clearly enough to inform a future, separately scoped migration toward a government-owned analytics platform.

Requirements

Desired Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated hands-on Power BI development experience: data modeling, Power Query (M language), and DAX.
  • Power Apps development experience, specifically canvas apps with real offline and disconnected data capture, beyond mobile-friendly apps that assume a live connection.
  • Comfort working directly with end users in short, iterative feedback cycles rather than a long, fixed-requirements build process.

Preferred Backgrounds:

  • Direct experience specifically in Microsoft 365 GCC High; Navy Flank Speed experience is directly relevant and a strong plus.
  • Experience with Dataverse, particularly configuring offline-capable canvas apps; this is the backend most offline Power Apps functionality actually depends on.
  • Prior DoD, government contractor, or CUI-handling experience.
  • Familiarity with Power Automate for lightweight workflow, and Power Platform governance/administration.
  • Microsoft Power Platform certifications (e.g., PL-100, PL-200, PL-400).

Benefits

Compensation: $135,000–$170,000/year, commensurate with experience (approximately $65–$82/hour, full-time employee basis). If engaged on a 1099 contract basis, expect a market-adjusted rate in the $80–$100/hour range, which accounts for self-employment tax and the absence of employer-provided benefits.

Start Date: Contingent upon contract award, in the near term. We are running our hiring process now so we can bring the right person on quickly once award is confirmed.

Why it works

3×

more interviews than doing it yourself with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT writes a CV and never learns what happened to it. We see every reply. For each CV we know:

  • How it was written, and how the review scored it
  • When we applied, and how long after the posting went up
  • Which posting, which company, which city
  • Who got the interview, and who heard nothing

That is how we know which CVs get called.
